The fleeting images of a life long past faded, leaving her breathless and shaken. She staggered back, dropping the threads as though they burned her fingers.
“What is happening to me?” she whispered to the empty room.
At the shrine, Kieran followed the glowing thread deeper into the ancient structure. The path wound between crumbling stone walls, illuminated only by the eerie light of the thread. His instincts told him he was treading on sacred ground, yet something compelled him forward.
The thread led to a small alcove where an ornate box rested atop a pedestal. Kieran hesitated before reaching for it, feeling the weight of unseen eyes watching him. The box was intricately carved with symbols he didn’t understand, yet one stood out—a familiar spiral, the same mark he had seen on Aria’s threadwork.
As he touched the box, a rush of warmth surged through him, and the voice of a woman filled his mind: “You have found the key, but beware—the past cannot be unlocked without consequence.”
