Aria hesitated as she reached for the spool, her fingers brushing against Kieran’s. A sudden jolt of energy coursed through both of them, and they staggered back, startled by the intensity of the connection. The spool glowed brighter, casting a warm red light across the room.
“What is this?” Aria asked, her voice barely a whisper.
Kieran looked at her, his expression a mixture of confusion and determination. “I don’t know, but it’s connected to you—us. When I touched the box, I heard a voice warning about consequences. It said something about choosing to sever or bind.”
Aria’s heart pounded as her mind raced. The visions she had seen earlier, the strange glow of her threads, and now this spool—it all seemed to point to something much larger than she could comprehend.
“What if this is part of the curse?” she murmured.
Kieran frowned. “Or the way to break it.”
They both stared at the glowing spool, the weight of its significance settling over them. Neither knew what the right choice was, but one thing was clear: their lives were no longer their own.
“We need answers,” Aria said firmly. “And I think I know where to start.”
Kieran nodded. “The shrine.”
