Finally reaching the gate of his family's small courtyard,Niyee felt a tremor in his heart as he entered inside.
With just one look around his expression changed.
The one familiar courtyard had fallen into despair, cluttered with heaps of junk, not even looking like a place where people lived.
A gust of wind blew through, adding to the despair.
Niyee rubbed his eyes, unable to believe what he was seeing.
How did it come to this?"
Was this still him home?
Just then footsteps approached from the side.
Niyee turned to see two elderly figures, collecting trash!
They were frail with white hair,faces full of wrinkles, their clothes dirty and tattered, patched in so many places.
The weight of the junk showed on their bent bodies.
With each step, they had to pause and rest
Niyee looked at the two elders, feeling a deep sense of pity.
In such old age,they were still scavenging for trash was truly heartbreaking.
He stepped forward intending to help them.
As he got closer, and saw their faces clearly,he froze as if struck by a lightning!
In that instant,an undescribable emotion surged through him.
Tears welled up in Niyee's eyes,he couldn't hold back any longer.with a weeping voice he called out to the two.
"Dad,mom.. how can it be you?"
The elderly couples stopped in their track, slowly lifting their heads to look at him.
As soon as they saw him, the scrap and trash they were collecting fell to the ground.
"Ohh my...Niyee?!"
"Dad,mom it's me I'm Niyee.. your son!"
Tears filled Niyee's eyes,he couldn't hold back much more.He rushed forward, hugging them deeply.
That moment his parents Lina and jake,also began to cry.
Lina held Niyee sobbing uncontrollably.
Niyee my son, where have you been.. we've been searching for years just to find you.she wept
Niyee let his tears fall freely, feeling a strong ache in his chest looking at his parents.
Mom why are you picking up trash?..I remember you two had jobs.
Releasing them from his embrace,Niye wiped his tears,his heart full of confusion.
Lina and Jake exchanged confused looks too
With red eyes Lina wore a faint smile and said;
Kid let's not talk about that now.common let's go home.you must be hungry. I'll make you something to eat.Niyee's mom said warmly.
Following them back into the small house, his mind was fill with questions.
Because when he had left, his parents had stable jobs and everything was fine.
Why had everything become so bleak now?
And he had noticed earlier that his dad Jake had some bruises, how come about that also?
As they all sat at the table,Niyee couldn't help but ask"Dad,mom what happened all these years?why have things ended up like this in our family.
Jake's face lined with awful wrinkles tightened as he paused before sighing deeply.Niyee, it's all because of your aunt."
Niyee was shocked disbelief hoozed all over him,Aunt?.. How's that possible?.
Jake gave a bitter smile,.."Niyee, you might remember a few years back when your uncle and aunt wanted to start a company and came to borrow money from us?
"I remember, you gave them most of our savings, total of thirty thousand.Did they ever pay back?.
Jake shook his head sighing if only I had known what kind of person those two were,I never would have lent them money."
Niyee was confused.
Jake sighed, After your aunt's family got back on their feet, not only did the refuse to pay but they also tried to force us into selling our house to them.Rumor has it, that this place is going to be demolished in a few years and the payout will be big.
"I and your mom refuse, and things ended badly with your aunt's family.To get back at us your aunt made sure I and your Mom lost our jobs".
At that moment,Niyee understood, with his gaze growing colder,he clenched his fists.
"So Ria is that shameless,I totally misjudged her"
Lina sighed"Niyee look your aunt is a business owner now.. don't go about looking for trouble,we can't win against her.

But he didn't want to worry his parents, so he nodded and said"I understand Dad and Mom, don't worry I've got things under control.
The both parents smiled, with Lina looking at Niyee again and again, asking"Niyee where have you been these past few years? When you left without a word,I and your dad were so worried,unable to sleep day and night.
Lina's eyes got teary again.After years apart, they thought Niyee was dead.
Seeing him again, how could they not be emotional?
Niyee looked at his parents feeling a deep sense of guilt.
"I left suddenly without a word of explanation.. for the past five years, I've been learning from a master in the mountains.now I'm back! Ready to give you all a great and happy life".
Jake smiled warmly, it's good.. don't worry much, let's just leave a simple life together."
Lina added with a smile that's true Niyee.. you're in your twenties now.The most important thing is to find a good job, get married and give us some nice grandkids.
Niyee smiled"Mom work can wait, what's most important now is introducing you to your future daughter in-law!"
His parents were shocked by this stateme
Lina asked in surprised"are you seeing someone?
Niyee shooked his head"not yet but my master arranged some matches for me. I'm supposed to choose one now that I'm back,so expect some visitors soon."
Lina and Jake exchanged glances even more surprised.
"Several matches.
The both couples felt a sense of inner joy.At their age, their greatest wish was to see their son settle down and start a family.
Lina suddenly turned to Jake and said"Honey you should tidy up the yard.There is so much trash out there and the girl might be put off when she sees it."
Jake got up and started cleaning.
Niyee grabbed his dad's hands smiling,"no need to clean up dad, they're all lining up to marry your son, they wouldn't bother.
Jake paused, frowning"Niyee you need to be grounded, do not With our situation why would any girl line up to marry you?, look let me tidy up first.we may not be rich but we are and will be sincere"
Niyee couldn't help but laugh;to his Dad,he was exaggerating.
He smiled not wanting to argue further.
Jake tidied the yard, making it a bit neater, though it didn't still look upright.
The trash heaped up at the corner was particularly glaring.
Lina thought for a moment before saying."Honey maybe we should change into cleaner clothes.At least the girls wouldn't have something to write off about."
Jake and Lina went in to change into something different Emerging shortly after,
Niyee looked at them,he felt a pang at his heart.
The clothes they had changed into were worn out, although it was cleaner than the one they had wore before.
They had small holes at the collars and sleeves, both faded from washing.
Seeing Niyee's gaze,Lina adjusted her collars,her face a bit flushed with embarrassment.
She was worried that wearing such clothes will embarrass Niyee
But these was one of their best outfits.
Lina looked at him"b..son your Dad and I haven't bought clothes in years ,do you think it is fine to wear this?.. this is all we have".
Niyee looked at his mother's eye's, seeing great humility his heart ached.
He understood his mother's concern,
She was afraid he would be ashamed of them.
He tilted his head back , with his teary eyes,he took a deep breath and smiled.
"Dad, mom.. what you're wearing is just fine.it's lovely".
Lina and Jake let out a sigh, of relief, their faces lightning up with a contented smile .
Their son was fine with it, so they were happy.
The family sat in the court yard, waiting.
Niyee appeared calm, composed,
But his parents were obviously nervous.
Just then footsteps approached the yard,Niyee perked up.
