‘I had not expected to see you here Nathaniel.’ she said, seemingly catching Nathaniel off guard.
‘Kirika...you startled me.’
It was a rare feat indeed to catch The Teacher by surprise, though the look on Nathaniel’s face suggested that his mind was deeply pre-occupied; he seemed particularly concerned by the lack of a response from his continued knocking on Aleska’s door.
‘Forgive me, I did not mean to startle you. Indeed I am surprised myself to have caught you unawares.’ she replied. ‘What troubles you Nathaniel? Are you here to see Aleska?’
‘Yes, though I have been knocking on her door for some time to no avail.’ he explained. ‘I have not seen Aleska since her official retirement and her neighbours, whom I have since spoken with, have not seen her for some time.’
