The spirit of love and friendship with her best friends rejuvenated Fiona's down cast feelings that she was able to for a brief moment let go of her pain and enjoy the party.
With her two friends by her side they started to make rounds around the party with Stark and Ciara taking turns to describe and tell her what was happening around them.
Fiona could hear people talking when she comes around but she acted as if she was both blind and deaf.
Tonight she wasn't going to let anything else hurt her again. She was determined to enjoy the party and act as if nothing happened.
With that determination in her heart, Fiona was able to start letting loose with her friends' guidance.
She chuckled a little when her friends told her about a funny mishap that occurred between a short fat man in a black oversize suit and the wine held inside the glass of a tall beautiful woman.
The man was so short that she ran into him without knowing he was there causing her wine to spill all over his head.
The funny part came from the look on the man's face. He didn't know whether to be enraged by the incident or stunned by her beauty which left his face contorted in a weird way which was aptly described by Stark in his best comedy voice.
It turned out the pair were mates but they nicely left that out not wanting to upset their friend.
As the night went on Stark managed to insert them into some groups where they acquainted themselves with people from the other pack before moving on.
His eyes caught some very interesting group in the far corner so he headed their way. They all looked to be from different subdivisions and seemed to be having fun with the discussion they were having among themselves.
They were five of them. Three girls and two boys. They all looked to be their age.
" Hi, " Stark smiled focusing his charming smile on one of the ladies. A pretty brunette.
A low growl beside him made him lose the smile but the brunette have already responded with a friendly smile allowing them to integrate into the group.
" I am Stark, " he stretched out his hand to the brunette.
" Lauren, " the brunette said shaking his hand.
Stark moved on to the next person beside her
" Helen, " a dark-haired girl with gothic features responded with an indifferent smile.
" Josh, " the guy beside her introduced shaking Stark's hand.
" Micheal, " the next guy said.
" Steven, " the blonde guy among them introduce but he wasn't looking at Stark but rather had his eyes on Fiona.
He was leering at her.
Stark noticed this and quickly moved his body to shield his best friend from his lecherous eyes.
" These are my friends Fiona and Ciara, " he introduced.
The two girls waved shyly at the other guys.
" Your Highness, " they tilted their heads in respect, something that made Fiona a little self-conscious.
She hated when people are indifferent to her because of her title. Yes, she is a Princess but that doesn't mean she was better than any other wolf.
Her friends joined in with the ongoing discussion, something about the vampire attacking one of their settlements in the east subdivision.
Fiona didn't join. Among strange people she wasn't used to she tends to be shy and a little withdrawn.
Her friends did their best to include her in their discussion but she was content just to be an observer.
For the third time in a row, Fiona adjusted her frame. Something was making her uncomfortable but she can't seem to identify the source.
Whatever it is was creeping her out.
Her wolf steered when her restlessness grew worse scanning for any danger.
" Anything? " Fiona asked.
Her skin was prickly and not in a good kind of way.
Someone was staring at her but who?
" Nothing, " Lia replied in her mind.
Fiona relaxed when the feeling receded.
Her friends quickly steered her off from the group as soon as the topic turned to mates.
As they were leaving Fiona felt the eyes on her again.
" Weird, " she mumbled under her breath.
" What? " Stark looked at her having not heard her.
" Nothing, " Fiona muttered quickly.
" Want something to eat guys? " Stark asked looking from Fiona to Ciara.
His heart leaped in his chest when his eyes met hers and all he could think about was kissing her.
" Easy there, tiger, there will be time for that, " Ciara teased through their mate link.
Stark blushed furiously looking away from Ciara who was doing her best not to burst into laughter.
" He looks so cute, " she thought giving her mate a fond look.
" So about the food, " Stark reminded them.
" Yeah let's go, I am famished, " Fiona said.
The three of them headed towards the buffet table and they weren't the only ones with food in their minds.
A lot of other wolves followed behind them towards the food table. It was an open buffet.
Serve yourself.
The Wolf King and Queen outdid themselves this year.
It was a night for their little one to grow up and so they had wanted to make it special to her yet all their efforts were sadly ruined by what happened earlier.
The Wolf King tried his best to pay attention to the discussion going on around him but he couldn't. He was worried about his offspring and his distraction was getting in the way of the discussion.
" Are you alright? " Bryce, the alpha of the Pearlmoon Pack asked for the third time that night.
The Wolf King nodded his head but he didn't look convinced.
Bryce turned to lock eyes with Axel and a look passed between them which was totally unnoticed by the Wolf King.
The Wolf King and his Queen only relaxed when they spied their offspring with her best friends at the buffet table laughing at something the young man beside her just said.
" Why hadn't the Moon goddess made Stark his daughter's mate, " the Wolf King wondered in his mind watching the trio.
" She looks alright, " The Queen muttered to her husband through their link.
" She sure does, " The Wolf King answered sounding relieved.
Now that he was sure that his daughter was faring alright he returned his maximum attention to the topic at hand.
Fiona moaned in pleasure as she bit into the soft tender skin of the drumstick in her hand. The chicken was nicely prepared and spiced.
" Oh my God! " she moaned again as she took another huge bite.
" Good right? " Ciara questioned with a smile on her face as she too enjoyed her dish.
" Wonderful, " Fiona moaned scooping more food into her plate.
Her friends laughed at her enthusiasm for food.
Their best friend has always loved her food.
They enjoyed their meal in peace and when they were done Fiona excused herself from her friends for a little fresh air.
The guys opened their mouths to protest but Fiona shook her head firmly at them.
" I will be fine, " she told them.
Outside Fiona breathed easy as her flushed skin was cooled by the chilled night breeze.
It had been a little hot inside.
" Hello, Princess, " a voice spoke out of the darkness.
