Chapter 8Gideon picked Jyran’s clothes up from the ground and held the door open for him. A squirrel. A f*****g squirrel was following him up the stairs. Though he was kind of cute—not that he’d ever admit it aloud—and it had been impressive to watch him jump from tree to tree. When they reached the apartment, Gideon unlocked the door and motioned for Jyran to enter. “Do you want something to eat before sleep?” Jyran shook his head, which had Gideon flatten his lips. He was hungry. Gideon had heard his stomach rumble, and he’d shifted twice during the night. “I’ll fix something.
