Chapter 8

I slept the entire ride home which was not like me. I couldn’t seem to wake up. Every time I tried my body would refuse to work. What’s wrong with me? I know I don’t sleep very well sometimes but this felt wrong. I kept trying to fight the sleepy feeling I had when trying to wake up. “Is she ok?” I could hear the worry in Frank’s voice. “She never sleeps like this on a plane. Even if she is exhausted.” “She’s going to be fine Frank. We’ll take care of her.” Jeremy sounded so far away. I wanted to wake up and reassure everyone, including myself, that I was alright. I just couldn’t seem to crawl out of this. I vaguely heard someone getting a vehicle for us but couldn’t seem to care. Darkness took me again. “Chere? Please wake up.” The concern I heard in his voice had me worried. I just couldn’t seem to fight the pull of sleep. Something was wrong with this. It felt wrong somehow but I didn’t know how. I kept telling myself to wake up but my body wasn’t listening to me. Where had the feeling of indifference come from? It was like I just didn’t care either way. Something was definitely wrong. I could tell I was moving but I couldn’t tell how or where I was headed. I thought I heard the men around me talking. It sounded like a language I didn’t know but vaguely recognized. Everything was fuzzy in my mind and it sounded as if I was hearing underwater. Then I thought I heard one of them say spell. Was that what was going on? If this was a spell then how do I break it? Who is doing this to me? So many questions tumbled in my head. “It’s alright little one. We’re…..” I couldn’t make out anything else Jackson was saying. I started to fight harder against the spell taking hold of me. Whomever was doing this was not going to get through this without a fight. I may not know how this works but I did know that my will was stronger than anyone’s. I would not just give up like the spell was trying to get me to do. I knew this was a spell of some kind once my head cleared enough. Someone really didn’t want me to come back. I could feel my strength waning but I refused to give up. I would not let anyone take me away from those I cared about. I was done with being half the person that I was meant to be. As I struggled to fight, I felt power flood my system. It wasn’t mine though. At first I tried to fight it as well, until I realized it was fighting the spell keeping me under. I wasn’t sure why but I joined the power to fight. My eyes flew open as I gasped. Quickly sitting up, I realized I was in a bedroom. I looked around my surroundings. Daryl, Roy, and Phillip were standing by a set of French doors at the back of the room. Jackson and Jeremy were standing anxiously at the foot of the bed. Sam was missing. Every one of the men looked panicked. When I sat up they all came towards me before I could say a word. “Chere you scared me when we couldn’t wake you and I couldn’t reach you like before.” Jeremy pulled me into his arms and held me as close as possible. “You gave us all a scare little one. Once we realized something was wrong I tried to reach you too.” Jackson was running his fingers through my hair. “Damn Doll. Never a dull moment with you.” Roy forced a laugh. “I’m sorry everyone. I don’t know what happened. I just couldn’t wake up.” I felt terrible for scaring all of them. “Where’s Sam?” “He went to find a friend of ours that might be able to help us wake you up. But this little lady showed up at our door shortly after we arrived.” Daryl explained this to me while searching my face. “What lady?” I turned as much as Jeremy would allow to look at the other person in the room. She was smiling serenely at me as I looked her over. She was paler than even I was with short pink hair and dark brown eyes. I could tell she was happy but what intrigued me was the feeling I was getting from her. It was like we were the same somehow. “My name is Daisy. Our Goddess came to me and said I needed to find you. You were in trouble and would need my help. I had no idea where to start looking but she led me here. You weren’t here yet but I waited until I saw them carrying you in. I knew you were the one she sent me to find.” She seemed bubbly when she talked. “Daisy? I’m sorry but I don’t understand. Why would you need to find me?” “Well as a fellow Wiccan I can help you more than these men can.” My eyes went wide and I wiggled away from Jeremy the best I could. “You’re a Wiccan?” “Of course. I’ve been waiting for you for a long time. Well not here but ever since I heard the prophecy. You are the one who will unite our community again.” The smile on her face brightened. “What do you mean? Unite the community?” Jackson narrowed his eyes at her as he asked. “It is an old prophecy that was made when our races split in the before time. It is said that a daughter of the oldest family will come into our world. She will be more powerful than any other in her family and she will bring us all together in peace. She will take a mate from each race and we will finally be whole again.” “I’m sorry, what? Mates?” I was so shocked. I felt Jeremy growl as I stared at her. I don’t think I could handle more than just Jeremy. He was intense enough at times. I mean uniting our community sounded good but I couldn’t be who she’s talking about. “Yes a mate from every race including the demon race.” The room seemed to shake with the amount of growling coming from the men. She has to be mistaken. I wasn’t who she thought I was. I wasn’t able to even access my powers, how could I be this daughter or whatever. “Over my dead body!” I looked at Jackson as he yelled. His eyes were glowing and he looked murderous. Even those Daisy was small, maybe five foot, she was unfazed. I looked at each man in turn and realized they all looked the same. I cleared my throat to get their attention. Every pair of eyes landed on me, making me squirm a little. It was hard having that much intensity pointed toward me. “She could be wrong guys. There’s no way I’m this daughter or whatever. I don’t even have access to my power. And I don’t think the wiccans would let me out of their sight if I was this all-powerful prophecy whatever it is. Let’s all take a breath and just calm down some. We’ll figure this out.” All of them seemed to breath together as they attempted to calm themselves. “You might not know it yet but you will. As soon as you start finding your mates.” I sighed as Daisy stated this so calmly. “She already has a mate! She is mine!” Jeremy growled and tightened his hold. “Then it has started already! This is so exciting! Are either of the vampires yours as well my lady?” “Um Daisy, please call me Angel. I don’t know how mates work so I have no idea what you’re talking about.” “Oh yeah the spell. I forgot all about that one. It’s too strong for me to break through it but we will get to that eventually. Has either vampire taken your blood?” I felt Jeremy stiffen as I looked at Jackson and Phillip. “I gave my blood to Phillip. Why?” Jackson sighed and Daisy looked at him. “Forgive me little one. The only way for a vampire to know if someone is their mate is to take their blood. Phillip and I talked about it before we came home. He said you were not his mate but he felt like he needed to be near you. He asked if you were my mate but I said no. I thought since you had a mate then I was imagining the feeling.” “What feeling?” the confusion was starting to feel like a normal thing for me anymore. “Chere. It’s different for every race. For my kind we can tell by smell and then looking into our mate’s eyes that they are the one. The bond is intense and makes it impossible for us to not be together in every way. Even harder for us to resist touching our mate.” “Ok. So Jackson, what is it like for you?” “Well poppet. For us it’s like intense feelings toward someone. We feel the need to protect that person and devote ourselves to our other half. It’s hard for us to entrust any others with our mate. Even allowing someone else around our mate is difficult. We need our mates touch and blood often.” Phillip answered me as Jackson paced. “It can’t be. She has a mate. She’s a wiccan so it’s forbidden. There is no way that she is mine as well. That isn’t possible.” Jackson spoke out loud as he paced. I patted Jeremy’s arm and looked into his eyes. He seemed to understand what I wanted because he allowed me to stand. I looked at Daryl and Roy as I walked towards Jackson. Daryl had a huge smile on his face, Roy looked bored. I walked slowly to Jackson as he paced. Phillip winked at me, causing me to smile. Jackson wasn’t looking at anyone. He seemed to be absorbed in his thoughts. I walked right into his path making him stop. “Jackson? Would you like to take my blood to be sure?” I stared into his eyes as I quietly asked. I saw many emotions come to the surface. Fear, anger, hope, lust. “Little one. I would not want to prove this prophecy right. I can’t deny what I’m feeling or that I don’t want anyone else to touch you. For some reason when Jay touches you I am fine but anyone else sets me on edge. I don’t know if I should taste you or not.” “I know what you mean Jack. I hate when anyone touches her. I didn’t mind when you carried her on to the plane or remained holding her through the flight.” “You held me on the plane too?” I didn’t mean for my voice to sound so soft, I just couldn’t believe he had held me like that. “Yes little one. I couldn’t seem to let you go once you were in my arms. It felt wonderful to hold you.” Jackson smiled and caressed my cheek. I couldn’t help the smile that formed. I was pleased to hear those words. I placed my hand on his chest as I looked for permission in his eyes. They widen slightly so I decided to go a little further. Still looking into his eyes I moved closer to him and moved my hair from the side of my neck. He didn’t move away from me but he tensed up. “Jack. You might as well do it. We’ll never know unless you taste her.” Jeremy sounded tired and worried. “I don’t know if I can Jay.” Even though Jackson voiced his concern, his eyes never left my neck. “It’s alright Jackson. I am giving you my permission. You can do this. I won’t pull away.” Before anyone else could say anything Jackson’s arms slid around me and pulled me closer. I smiled and moved my head to expose my neck to him. I wasn’t sure how I knew what to do but I did. I felt his breath on my neck, making me shiver. I placed my hand behind his head, pushing slightly in encouragement. His tongue ran along my neck causing a moan to escape me. I felt his teeth on my neck as my core soaked itself. Then his teeth pierced my flesh. I gasped as the most pleasurable feeling rushed through my body. It felt as though I was floating in a sea of pleasure. My body ached for the man who held me. I was at the edge of a climax and that was just from him taking my blood. I could feel a rush of liquid between my legs when I thought about what it would be like once he entered me. I heard Jackson groan as he began to pull my blood into his body. His excitement was pushing into my belly as he fed. I couldn’t help but wiggle a little to rub against his hardness. It caused him to pull harder at my neck which sent sensations through my body. My breast seemed heavier in my bra. I wanted to be free of that prison. Free of all my clothes. I needed his skin against mine, no cares for the audience we had. I could feel power unfurling inside of me as I pulled on his head a little urgently. It began to swirl inside of me picking up strength and speed. Then just before the power overflowed, Jackson licked my neck again. The power came to a crescendo as the lights within the room grew brighter. Jackson crashed his lips into mine with a slight growl. I kissed him back just as urgently as he kissed me. My mouth opened to allow his tongue access to me. I could taste the metallic taste of my blood on his tongue as we explored each other’s mouths. The world fell away until it was just us. I was about to climb up his body to wrap my legs around his waist, when someone yelled. “What the Hell!?” Jackson and I pulled apart after hearing Roy yell. When we looked toward him, he was floating in the air. It was comical to say the least. He was just hanging in the air flailing his arms and legs. It was like he was on a wire or something. Daryl took the opportunity to run his arms through the air around Roy. There was no wire. “Well I was right. She is the one who will save us.” Daisy said happily. “Wonderful. Can someone get me down!” Roy sounded pissed. “Well of course. Our lady will have to put you down since it is she who levitated you.” “How do I do that? I don’t even know how I did it in the first place.” “Telekinesis as well. I guess you are powerful chere.” I didn’t feel powerful. All I felt was fear choking me. Jackson hugged me from behind and buried his nose in my hair. I felt my body relax a fraction. I was still having problems breathing. I couldn’t believe I had done that. What did this mean? How powerful was I? The panic set in as I realized the target on my back just enlarged. “I know you’re afraid little one. If anyone can do this it is you. I have waited countless lifetimes to find you my love. I can feel your fear. Just let it go. This is your power and you are its master. Just relax and let your instincts take over.” He was so calm that it seemed to calm me down as well. He was right, this was my power and I could do this. I closed my eyes and took a deep breath. I felt the power inside of me waiting. I could feel my mind slowly reaching out to it like a wild animal. When I reached for it, the power uncurled itself and wrapped around me like it belonged. It felt right, like I regained a piece of myself. When I opened my eyes I could see Roy slowly coming down to meet the floor. All I had done was relax and trust what Jackson had said. “That’s my girl.” Jeremy sounded proud as he linked our hands together. “No offense Doll but pick on someone else next time.” Roy sounded grumpy but relieved to be back on the ground. “I’m sorry about that Roy. I’m not sure what happened.” “Well my lady, as you find a mate then more of your powers will be unlocked. When that happens, you just need to relax and open yourself to the power. Exactly how you did just now.” “Daisy, please call me Angel.” I sighed. “Will my memories unlock as well?” “Your memories will remain hidden behind the spell until we can break it. Don’t worry my……Angel. We will do so with time.”
