Chapter 12

Even if my eyes couldn’t see in the darkness, my powers led the way to the center of the warehouse. I mentally prepared myself for what was to come. I stopped in the middle of the warehouse and took a deep breath to calm my nerves. I should have known that Widow wouldn’t be alone waiting for me. She probably wanted to wear me down before we fought. I pulled my guns from their holsters and loaded the clips. “Well you actually came alone.” I could hear her laughing as the space was flooded with light. I blinked at the sudden brightness surrounding me. I already knew I was surrounded but my eyes were still adjusting. When I was finally able to look without blinking I noticed every man surrounding me was in full tactical gear. That’s not possible. How would Widow arrange this without her contacts within the Agency? Which only meant that she still had someone helping her. “I didn’t realize there was going to be a party Widow. If I would have known I could have brought something to drink.” I sounded bored even to my ears, it covered how tense I was. “Of course it was meant as a surprise for you. Couldn’t have you getting cold feet now can we?” I could hear her but not see her. I looked at my surroundings trying to locate where she was hiding. My powers stretched again toward a darkened corner. There in the shadows. I stared unwaveringly at the corner. It didn’t take long for her to come into the light. She was never very patient. “Should we get started then? Just you and me Widow. Let’s finish this once and for all.” “To the death?” “What else?” She seemed to be arguing with herself as she smiled at me. Before she could answer I heard the door shut. I turn slightly to still keep Widow in my line of site but see our new guest. I couldn’t believe my eyes. The man strolling towards us shouldn’t be here. Why would Blaine be here with Widow? I could see the smirk on his face clearly. He knew I was shocked to see him. He wore a dark blue suit with a white shirt and no tie. His dark hair was styled to look messy but there was too much product in it so it looked wet and oily. His brown eyes raked over my body as he passed me. I couldn’t help but gag at the look of lust from him. “Well Angel. So good to see you here. I am sure that you are wondering why I am here and with Widow as well.” He reached Widow and turned to look at me. “I should have known you would help her when it comes to me. You really don’t like the word no.” I laughed and shook my head. Blaine’s face turned red at my declaration. I felt Jeremy and Jackson at that moment. They were closer than before. Maybe I could stall enough to even the odds. I could handle Widow but not with Blaine and the others here. Widow would get away and I couldn’t have that. “You think it fazes me to hear trash like you tell me no. There are so many women like you that come to the Agency, and I have my pick of them all. I can have anyone I want.” I could hear the anger in his voice as he spat the words at me. “Anyone, but me. Even if I had never come to the Agency, I still would never say yes to you. You know that already though. So Widow what did you have to do to get his help?” “Nothing. He reached out to me because he knew I had a problem with you. He asked me to teach you a lesson for being a stuck-up bitch.” Both smiled at me. “So why do you need backup Widow?” I spoke softly, never taking my eyes from Blaine. “I DON’T!” She took a step toward me but Blaine grabbed her arm. I could feel my mates getting closer but I didn’t think they would make it in time. I took the safety off each gun and chambered a round with my thigh. I just had to take out as many as possible. I would not let Widow get away this time. She would die this night. I felt my power envelope the exits and harden. I could almost see the locks in my mind. No one could get out until I allowed it. At that thought I smiled and relaxed. I still hoped that the guys could get in when they got here. Somewhere I felt like they would be able to. That satisfied me. “Since this is a party, let’s dance.” I sounded cocky even to my own ears. I raised both guns and pointed them to the small army. I briefly felt bad about killing these agents until I realized they were loyal to Blaine and meant to kill me. I dropped to a crouch and shot two in the neck where there was a gap in the armor. All hell broke loose as soon as I pulled the trigger. I saw Widow grab Blaine and head for an exit as I focused on the others. They had begun firing at me but not hitting me. Of course they want me alive to fight Widow. They just want me tired and worn down. I shot two more as a dove away from the center of the gun fire. Rolling behind a big machine for cover I took a deep breath to steady me. I could hear guns going off around me and Widow scream that they couldn’t get out. At least it worked. Jeremy and Jackson were not far away now. I could feel them trying to talk to me. I blocked it out to focus on the fight around me. Another deep breath and I jumped onto my side away from the machine. The guns in my hands fired in quick succession hitting targets. Not where I wanted to hit but I didn’t stop to worry about that. They had went down, at least that would give me a break. I scrambled to my feet and took off in a sprint. I knew I couldn’t run away from them but I saw an overturn metal table that I could hide behind. I lifted my left arm and continued to fire at the group of soldiers. I reached the metal table and dove behind it. The one gun was out of ammo so I tossed it aside. I could feel Jackson and Jeremy’s attempts getting more urgent. Before they could break through I sent a message out to them saying I was under fire and couldn’t be distracted. I thought the roar I heard was in my head but the warehouse shook. Everyone else froze in place as I rose. I could hear my heart race as one of the doors burst open. No one moved as two bears, a wolf, a fox, and two vampires flooded into the space. The polar bear had burst through the door, shaking pieces of wood out of its fur. I smiled as the room filled with fear. I unloaded my remaining gun into the soldiers standing closest to me. They dropped immediately. The room erupted into chaos. The black bear climbed into the rafters to take out the men who were trying to shoot from there. The polar bear ran right into a group of soldiers grabbing one by the shoulder and shaking as hard as he could. I watched the wolf jump on another soldier tearing into the gear he wore. Since the soldiers were taken care of I looked for Widow. She was standing about two feet from me just staring in horror at the scene. I tackled her taking both of us to the ground when I felt a searing pain in my left shoulder. I rolled away and was shocked to find I had been shot in the shoulder. Blaine was smirking as he held a Desert Eagle leveled at my head. “I don’t know what’s going on here Angel but those animals can’t save you now.” I saw him grin evilly at me and squeeze the trigger. I closed my eyes and waited but nothing hit me. Confused I opened my eyes to see Blaine being held in the air by a very dangerous looking Jackson. His eyes glowed red and his fangs were bared. Phillip helped me up and checked my arm. It hurt but would heal with time. I looked for Widow and noticed that Daryl was holding her in a bear hug, no pun intended. The black bear came running over to me and nudged my hand. “Hello Roy. You were magnificent climbing into the rafter. Daryl you must have been the polar bear huh.” Daryl laughed and nodded. I giggled as the fox approached me carefully. “Hi Sam. Thank you for coming after me.” I patted his head. “Poppet, what do you want us to do with the alive ones?” “The soldiers are already dead in my opinion. I came here for Widow.” Widow screamed and kept trying to fight Daryl to get loose. I smiled at her and turned my attention to the wolf approaching me. He seemed thoroughly pissed off. I hugged his neck with my good arm and whisper thank you. He snorted but didn’t growl, I’ll take that as a win. I walked over to Jackson who hadn’t moved since he grabbed Blaine. “Jackson?” my voice was soft as I called for him. “It’s alright Jackson. I knew you would come for me. I tried to stall until you guys got here but I could only stall for so long. Don’t kill him please. He needs to face his father for his treachery.” Jackson lowered Blaine to his feet but didn’t release him. “I will discuss your leaving with you later little one. This trash deserves to die for hurting you my love.” “He will die once his father sees him. I sent John the info as soon as Widow called me. He should be on his way for her. Are any of you hurt?” “Bullets don’t hurt us poppet. We’ll need some blood but should be fine otherwise.” I looked at Phillip and smiled widely. “Well if that’s the case we have a donor right here. Widow won’t mind giving you what you need.” Widow screamed as Phillip looked at her with a smile on his face. Daryl out right laughed and tossed her to Phillip. I returned my attention to Blaine as he watched Phillip bite into Widow’s neck and drink her blood. His face turned white and the fear coming off him doubled. I shivered from the smell. Daryl came over and took possession of Blaine as Jeremy and Jackson focused on me. “What is it my love?” “I can smell his fear and it’s making me intoxicated. I’ll be alright.” “You can smell fear?” Daryl sounded shocked. “Yes. Can’t everyone?” I was so confused. “No little one. Humans can’t smell fear, they can sense it sometimes but not smell it. We will examine that later as well. Phillip don’t kill her.” “Actually, Phillip if you want to kill her be my guest. If not then I’ll do it.” Every eye was on me as I walked over to Phillip. I could see the blood trickle down Widow’s neck as he pulled back. Every man looked at me curiously as Phillip let Widow go. Wolfie was sitting next to Jackson and he looked bored. You know you won’t kill her chere. That’s where you’re wrong Wolfie. I have to kill her for what she has done and for Michael. I heard him sigh as I pulled a knife from my boot. Widow’s eyes were wild as she looked at me. I could smell her fear now that I was closer. Before anyone could stop me I buried the knife to the hilt in her heart. Watching the shock overtake her features before she stumbled back brought me no satisfaction. “Widow, you used everyone and deceived us. Michael paid the ultimate price for your lies. Now you will pay for what you did to him.” My voice was quiet but strong as I watched the light drain from her eyes.
