Chapter 14

I really need to stop passing out. That was my first thought as I came to. I could hear people around me talking quietly. I felt a hand running through my hair lovingly. “Do you think she’ll wake soon Jay?” I could hear the concern in Sam’s voice. “She will wake when she’s ready to Sam.” Jeremy sounded relaxed enough. “Jack stop pacing. She’s fine she just over did it.” “He is right. My lady is not used to using her powers yet so she pushed too hard. She will recover fully and we shall work on breaking the spell on her memories.” Daisy’s serene voice rang out. “Daisy. How many times must I ask for you to call me Angel.” I groaned and opened my eyes. Jeremy was smiling down at me. “There you are. How are you feeling chere?” “I’m ok Jeremy.” I sat up and looked around. Everyone was crammed into the same room as before. Jackson rushed to my side, “I’m so sorry little one. I didn’t know how tired you were or I would have never had you use anymore of your powers. I pushed you too far.” “Jackson. Please stop.” My voice was soft and loving as I looked into his eyes. “You didn’t do anything but rescue me. I’m the one who pushed myself too far. I’m the one who pushed myself, no one else but me. Thank you, all of you, for coming for me. I’m sorry about leaving without a word. I didn’t think beyond keeping you safe. I knew my world well and didn’t want to put any of you in danger because of me.“ “Chere. I know you’re used to handling things yourself, you have us now. You’re not alone anymore.” Jeremy wrapped his arms around me and held me close. “No offense Doll but I’m still trying to wrap my head around you killing someone. You didn’t even flinch.” I looked at Roy and nodded. “I understand Roy. It will be hard to deal with but you should know that this is not the first time nor will it be the last. I apologize if it’s unsettling.” “Damn it Doll. Unsettling? I know we have killed before but it’s strange to think of you killing anyone. You just look so sweet and innocent. Like we need to protect you. Kill for you but you’re a pro. It’s just hard to get used to the idea.” I nodded at Roy. I completely understood where he was coming from. Everyone in the Agency always said the same thing about me. It was deceiving when anyone first looked at me. I tried to wiggle away from Jeremy but he tightened his grip. I suddenly felt so alone. I heard Roy sigh as I started to pull into myself. “Doll please don’t do that. I didn’t mean to hurt your feelings.” “It’s alright Roy. Everyone says the same thing about me. I should be used to it by now. I’m just tired of being like this. I just want to be normal, whatever that means.” “My love, you are normal for who you are. Your father was right. You have overcome things that would crush others. Even with all the obstacles you have become an amazing woman. I for one am humbled by you and so lucky to have you.” I smiled at Jackson as he pulled me to him. I hugged him close to me and sighed. He was right, I had to remember that. “Jack’s right chere. You are beyond anything I could ever dream of. The Goddess gifted me with the most wonderful mate in any world.” I was sandwiched between Jackson and Jeremy as they tried to hugged me at the same time. I sighed happily in their arms. I had to remember that even though I was away from those I knew, I wasn’t alone. How could I be alone with these men in my life? I realized in that moment that I loved them more than myself. “I’m sorry Doll. Now I feel like a jerk.” I giggled as I tried to extract myself from both men. “It’s alright Roy. I guess I just needed reminding that I’m not alone. I left everyone I’ve known behind. I’m a little sad about that and it makes me kind of lonely. I forgot that I had all of you with me. Even if you don’t know me that well, you are still here. Thank you for coming for me and sticking with me.” “Now that she’s awake can we eat? I’m starving!” Daryl whined. “Of course we can eat. Any requests? I still owe you dinner.” I laughed as I asked. “There’s a great steak house close!” “Let’s go then. Be ready in five?” I smiled at Daryl. “I’m ready! I’ll wait downstairs.” Daryl was already halfway out of the room. “You just made his night Doll.” Roy chuckled. The others followed Daryl out, leaving me and my men alone. I looked at myself and realized no one had changed me. I shrugged and climbed off the bed. I removed my holster and tossed it in my suitcase. “Chere?” I turned to Jeremy and c****d my head. “I want you to know that I understand why you left today. You wanted us to be safe from your world. Just know that I love you and will follow you anywhere you go. You don’t have to say it back, if you aren’t ready.” “I love you Jeremy.” His face lit up and a huge smile spread on his face. “Jackson?” “Yes my love.” “I just want to apologize again…” “Shh little one. I understand your reasoning. I also want you to know that I will walk through the fires of hell with you. I love you with everything I am.” “I love you too Jackson.” I couldn’t help the blush creeping into my cheeks as they both smiled. “We should get going before Daryl throws a tantrum.” All three of us were laughing as we raced out of the room. We tried to beat the others down the steps first. Once we reached the foyer, Jackson tossed me over his shoulder. We laughed out the door and into the waiting van. Whatever happens next, we would face it together. For now we would enjoy the moment and each other. Tomorrow’s problems could wait.
