The footage was grainy and washed out by emergency lights, but the road and my car were easy to recognize. Metal screamed during the collision. Flames climbed over the mangled hood of my sports car, and smoke covered the road. Clara ran into the frame. She took a tire iron from the trunk of a nearby car and ran to the passenger side, where I lay against the glass. She struck the window until it broke over her arms. Then the camera caught her hands. Blood covered them before she reached through the broken window. She fought with my seat belt while the glass cut deeper into her skin. My body hung limp against her.
