CHAPTER TWENTY-ONE
“You want me to what?” Bella asked incredulously. “I’ve got classes, Nathan, and they’re all advanced. I can’t do them by remote. I am one more semester from being done. You want me to put my life on hold forever?”
“Not forever,” Max said calmly. “Just for the next few weeks or so.”
“NO,” she retorted, chin out, glaring defiantly at them both. “No. Not before Thanksgiving break. I might be talked into that, but I am sure as hell gonna be back here when classes pick back up the first week of December.”
Nathan and Max exchanged looks.
“Wait. What aren’t you two telling me?”
Nathan had hoped to be able to just skim the surface, like he did with Jandy. But that wasn’t going to cut it. He would have to tell her all of it, so that she’d understand why it was so important
