Bella awoke well before her alarm the next morning, which irritated her. Her head felt slightly fuzzy, and it hurt. She stretched, reached over, then realized Nathan wasn’t in bed with her. Confused, she grabbed her robe and put it on as she went downstairs to find him. She found him in the kitchen, pacing while talking on the phone, with full-blown ‘work mode’ face on. Oh, not good at five in the morning, she thought as she crossed in front of him to the counter. Then again, five a.m. pretty much sucks outright all by itself, in my opinion, she rationalized, and grinned a bit. As she reached for a cup to make herself some tea, he paused his conversation, gave her a blank look, and went into the living room to talk further. Her eyebrows raised as she watched him retreat. What the hell?
