The car ride home was quiet, save for the occasional hum of the engine and the faint music playing in the background. With the windows rolled up, the enclosed space held a warmth that seemed to make the atmosphere thicker. Chloe, already tipsy from her earlier drinking, had taken to sipping the wine, seemingly unaware of how it was affecting her. Her head tipped back, and she let out a soft laugh, her eyes unfocused as she swirled the liquid in the bottle. “Chloe,” Starry’s voice broke through the fog of her thoughts, sharp and direct, but still soft enough to not seem like a demand. “You need to put that down. It’s late, and you’ve already had enough.” She glanced at him briefly, her eyes hazy but defiant. “It’s fine, Starry,” she said, her voice light but with a hint of stubbornness.
