Starry sat in his chair, tapping a pen against the desk as he tried to concentrate. His office was quiet except for the faint hum of the city outside and the occasional shuffle of papers from his secretary’s desk beyond the door. He was badly distracted and he could only wish he could get his attention on what he needed to do. The reports in front of him were urgent, filled with numbers, deals, and projects that required his full attention. But no matter how hard he tried, he couldn’t focus.
