♠ Austin Hames ♠
“Hey, it's been so long, hasn't it?” Justin asked with a smirk playing on his lips.
My brows involuntarily pulled together at his presence, “I didn't think you'd come.”
“Why? It's a family event, isn't it?”
“Yeah, a Hames family event,” I took a step towards him, “and if I recall, you left the Hames a long time ago.”
Justin's middle name was Andrew, but once he turned eighteen, he preferred changing it to his last name.
So he wanted to be called Justin Hames Andrew.
I didn't care that he still kept the name, all I cared about was that he didn't want his name anymore.
He shrugged a little, “heard from pops that you got yourself a girl,” he snickered, “can't be true, right?”
“Why? You think everyone wants to die single like you,” a side of my lips curled upwards, “how ‘bout Rita? Girl left you already?”
His brows furrowed, “I left her.”
A lop-sided smile took place on my lips, “yeah, sure.”
A loud splash startled everyone in the party.
“Oh my goodness, someone jumped into the pool!” A lady screamed, causing lots of people to run towards the pool.
I glared at Justin before running after the others, wondering why anyone in their right senses would go to the pool in such weather.
“Where's Kim?” I wasn't sure what direction it was from, but I heard Katie say.
“Kim!” She called out, and for some reason, my mind wasn't willing to keep calm.
I increased my pace towards the pool where a man was about to jump after whoever had jumped into the pool.
When I noticed Kim struggling inside there, my heart rate increased and immediately, worry shot up.
I threw off my jacket, pushing the man away, as I held my breath, jumping into the pool.
Her eyes were closed, and even with the way the waters blurred my vision, I could see she was on the verge of giving up.
Knowing if I was to grab her from front, she might likely pull me deeper with her, so I swam to stay behind her, grabbing her waist firmly.
It probably came as a surprise to her because she started flapping her hands in the water, which made it a little harder to pull her up.
But at the moment, my only care was her safety and absolutely nothing else.
So with effort, and ignoring her kicking, I was able to pull us both upwards.
A lot of people had gathered at the moment, their expression filled with nothing but worry.
“Kim! Oh my gosh!” A female screamed from the crowd, but that wasn't what I cared about.
She turned to me, tears streaming down her face which caused an ache in my heart.
I held her hips more firmly, pulling her to the ground as more people assisted and so I got out also.
She was shivering more than anything, so I hugged her around my wet body. “Get her a towel!” I screamed to no one exactly, but some people rushed to do that.
Two girls scurried towards us, crouching beside her.
“Oh my, are you alright?” The one who was crying uncontrollably, asked.
“How the f**k did she end up in the water?” The second one asked, looking as worried as the first.
But I ignored them both, holding onto her tightly while she grabbed hold of my shirt like her life depended on it, tears pouring out more than anything.
Soon, a man appeared with a towel which I wrapped her around it.
“Oh my gosh,” Katie ran to her with Kelvin behind her, “are you okay?”
“Oh my,” mom said from behind me.
“Everyone should leave her alone!” I demanded, noting how it didn't help her one bit.
Wrapping my hands around her shoulders which were covered with the towel, I rose to my feet, pulling her upwards with me.
“It's alright,” I whispered to her, “lemme get you to the room.”
She was still crying and shivering, it hurt me so much to see that.
Walking past the crowd, I led her to the house with the crying lady and the worried one trailing behind me.
Katie also tagged along as we took slow steps towards the house.
The door was opened by a guard who bowed, but I totally ignored that just like how I ignored the other maids who bowed and just headed to my room.
Opening the door, I led her in, placing her to sit on the bed, which was when I noticed she'd stopped crying.
“Are you alright?” I asked, noticing that she was still shivering. “You should go take a hot shower and then you can drink some tea afterwards.”
“Yes, I'll give you one of my clothes.” Katie immediately said, running out of my room.
I took a seat beside her, “you're alright, okay?”
She nodded. Her lips had turned blue already, with her skin pale.
Katie rushed in with a gown, “here you'll change in this.”
I wrapped my arm around her shoulders again, standing up and pulling her with me, then led her to the bathroom.
“Take a shower, I'll be back.” I squeezed her shoulder before letting go, then left the bathroom.
The crying girl had stopped crying, but looked as pale as the other one beside her.
Finally noticing them, the crying lady looked a lot like Kim.
Maybe they were twins, because they looked a lot like that.
The other had full red hair, and looked nothing like Kim or her sister.
Either she just took over one of their parents or she was a friend.
“Let me know when she's done,” I said to Katie, walking past them since all that mattered at the moment was Kim.
Once out, I closed the door, but wasn't able to find myself heading back to the party.
I noticed mom standing by the end of the hall, looking worried.
When she saw me, she scurried towards me, “how is she?”
“She's taking a shower,” I wasn't sure if I was in the mood for much chat at the moment.
She must've noticed it because she just placed her hand on mine, “she's alright. You saved her so don't stay worried.”
But how could I not worry when she could literally have been hurt deeply.
She was afraid. How could I not worry when she was so afraid.
I nodded, not sure if I could follow what she'd said because at the moment, I felt my entire body worrying as anything.
Would she be alright?
How afraid was she?
Would she be mad at me for bringing her here?
And most importantly, why was I so worried?
