Chapter Thirty Three

1246 Words
♠ Kim Stans ♠ He'd almost kissed me. That was all I could think about as I laid on the bed. Why? My heart raced fast at how much I'd so badly wanted him to do so. How my entire body had yearned for our lips to meet. I'd waited in the car on purpose so he would do something. Anything to give ease to my body. But I'd expected that to only be my thoughts on it all, which was why the fact he leaned closer had come as such a surprise. What was running through his mind? Did he feel how I did? Did he really feel the spark that ran through me? I mean, that was the only explanation as to why he'd do that. “You seem lost on thought,” Layla's voice startled me. I didn't even notice when she'd walked in. Was I too busy with my thoughts on the almost kiss to notice the door open? “Hey, you're back,” I lifted myself to a seating position, watching her take a seat on the loveseat of my room. “Just got in,” she stared as though trying to read through me, “you seemed so lost in thought that you didn't hear me entering the house or your room.” Shaking my head, accompanied with a sigh, I said, “I'm sorry, how was the…” where had she said she was heading to in the first place? “Something's obviously bothering you,” she leaned forward, “c’mon spill it.” Did I want to tell her about almost kissing Austin? Wouldn't that just be room for teasing from their part. Nope. There was no way I could risk them annoying emotions I was still trying to ignore. “Today was just a bit stressful, having to play basketball and all,” not that I'd consider all that happened stressful. “Oh,” from her tone, I could make out the fact she didn't believe me, but obviously knew best than to press further, “how's it going with you two?” My heart skipped a beat at that question, and immediately, thoughts of us almost kissing popped back to view. “He's helping me out well and all,” it was annoying how my cheeks had to betray me, but if she noticed, she didn't say. “And what next do you two plan on doing?” I detected the suspicious note to her tone, as though aware of what I wasn't voicing out. “I'm going to be visiting him on Friday where he'll be getting his company temporarily,” I explained, wishing there was a way we could stop talking about him already. Please, anything to stop reminding me of what almost took place in his car. “How about Oliver?” I quickly asked before she laid her comment. She just shrugged, “I texted her on my way here and she seems to be having fun wherever she is.” “You think she'll be back tonight?” My elder sister instinct kicked in, though I was aware she was above twenty and had lived alone for two years. “From what I know, she seems to be having a lot of fun,” Layla didn't seem to care much, “so we might not be expecting her for a long time actually.” “Oh,” As though able to read my mind, she added, “but I'm sure she's alright, she's literally twenty one.” “Yeah I know,” although I wanted my thoughts to flow on my worry on Oliver's absence, they (on their own accord) flew back to Austin. What are you doing to me? ♠ Oliver Stans ♠ “Bye, see you later,” Carly, a friend I knew from church, waved her goodbye before disappearing into her car. “Bye,” once I watched her zoom off, I moseyed further from the church towards home. The clock read seven p.m. and although we'd closed church service hours ago, some of us still waited to chat and play games. Well, after all the fun, it was finally time to head home, though I wished I'd bought my car along so things would be easier (though it was just a fifteen minutes walk). My gaze caught sight of a*****e at a distance where I headed to, because I needed a drink at the moment. The door chimed when I pushed it open so I headed in, ambling through the store till I found bottles of sodas. Grabbing two bottles, I headed towards the cashier who was a pretty blonde, with a smile that seemed so natural like she'd offered it to so many people already. Dropping the bottles, I reached for my card which I was sure I'd dropped in my purse, but it wasn't there. Oh shoot, maybe I forgot my card at home. Jeez, how could I have forgotten it? She seemed to notice me rummaging through my purse with creased brows, because she asked, “is something wrong?” “Uh…” certain I hadn't bought my card, I turned back to her, “I didn't bring my card, so I'm not sure if I can buy this.” “Oh, alright,” she offered me a small smile. I was about taking the bottles to return them, when a figure dropped a bag of chips and cookies, stretching a hand that held a card. “I'll pay for her stuff and mine with this card,” the familiar voice spoke, causing me to crane my head up at him. And there Andrew stood, offering me a small smile before turning back to the cashier who took his card. After paying, he got his card back while she packaged the stuff, handing them over on him as we both left the store. “Thanks, I don't know how I forgot my card,” we both moved side by side further from the store. “It's alright,” he had a charming smile on, “we meet again. How's it been?” “Same old,” I shrugged, as we both stopped in front of a car I'd assume to be his. He handed the bottle of soda to me, which I opened, taking a sip of it. “What do you want to do with the chips and cookies?” “My way of celebrating the new month,” from his tone, I could already make out the fact he was going to spend the day dlone. “It's not nice for a man to eat cookies and chips alone on the first day of the last month of the year,” He raised a brow, but I could see the hidden smile on his lips, “how do you know I'm eating it alone?” “It's obvious,” duh… “Hmm,” he chortled, “I guess.” “Since you did a favor for me today and on Thanksgiving, why don't I repay you by being you new month partner.” “Really?” “Yeah, let's go to a party or something,” it was a new month, lots of people would be hosting parties. “Okay then,” he retrieved the key of his car, “let's go.” We both went into his car, and like that, went to a beach party where we had fun.
