“Here, lemme grab that for you,” Layla, who looked a lot like my ninth grade math teacher, took the books I was holding.
“Thanks,” I smiled at her, taking a seat on the cow, who gave me a ride to school.
“Are you ready to meet your prince?” The cow asked, smiling up at me and looking a lot like dad.
I nodded, getting off him, and giving him a hug as tears blurred my vision, “thanks for everything you've done for me till this moment. I love and cherish you.”
He held my hand, looking hot in the tux he wore. He looked like his younger self, taking my hand in his.
The wedding dress I wore was extremely long, I feared that I might actually fall.
We both walked down the aisle with cheering people, and shouts of celebration.
My groom was backing me, and so I headed towards him, still smiling.
Once we'd reached him, dad flew away, leaving me with my groom who slowly pivoted, revealing…
“Austin?” I was certainly surprised to see him dressed in groomswear and was my groom?
He had a smirk on, taking my hand in his, as Oliver who was the pastor said, “you may kiss your bride.”
“What?” I stared in confusion, watching him lean forward, pushing his lips forwards.
“No!” I turned to run away, but then he was everywhere, moving closer with his lips growing bigger.
“No! Please, nooooo.”
“We're here,” Austin's voice caused me to jerk my eyes open, staring at my surroundings in confusion.
It was all a dream.
I pulled my head backwards in relief, closing my eyes as I tried to catch my breath.
“Why are you sweating?” He asked, not sounding interested in knowing that.
I opened my eyes, shaking my head, “nothing you should be aware of,” because no way was I going to tell him I had a f*****g dream about us getting married.
What the heck was that dream?
“Stay here,” he ordered, opening the car door, which he closed once he was out.
I was confused at why he'd tell me to stay in, till he walked round the car, opening the car door for me and stretching forth a hand.
“This isn't necessary, you know?” I said, unbuckling my seatbelt.
“Just do it,” he said through gritted teeth.
Rolling my eyes, I accepted the offer, taking his hand, and getting out of the car whose door he closed afterwards.
It was only once I was out that I noticed where we were.
A gasp left me at the sight of the decorations.
If I'd expected the dinner to just be one where we'd eat round table and all, then I had no idea what I was doing.
There were beautiful glass tables everywhere with four chairs surrounding it and servers walking around with trays of varieties.
The floor was graced with manicured gardens that enhanced the exterior aesthetic.
Just as Katie had said, there were tons of people around, I was sure they couldn't know them all.
But then even with the many people, there were still empty chairs around.
He placed a hand on the small of my back, leading me further into the place.
Some people gasped their surprise, while others (the richer ones I guess), didn't stop whatever conversation they'd been in.
He led me to a table where his mom and dad were, both smiling at us both.
“Hi,” I greeted, ignoring the fact I was a little too aware of his touch.
Nora rose to her feet, throwing me in a hug. “Hey darling, I'm so glad you could make it.”
“Me too,” I hugged her back.
We both pulled apart, “I hope it wasn't stressful?”
“Not at all,” I placed a hand on Austin's shoulder, “Austin here, made it a lot fun.”
Her smile grew wider while Austin stayed devoid of expression.
“You two should enjoy the dinner, alright?” Chris said, offering me a small smile.
“Yeah yeah, you two should go catch up with friends and all,” she said, winking at Austin before going back to take a seat beside her husband.
I dropped my hand, wishing he would just let go of my back as his hand seemed to be burning through my cloth.
He led me away, and I was surprised when I sighted Suzy who headed towards him.
“Hey,” she smiled at him, giving him a hug which he left my back to return.
What the f**k.
My brows furrowed, making me want him to touch my back again.
“You're late,” she pointed out once they'd pulled apart from the hug, then turned to me, “I would guess your girlfriend is the cause.”
From the way she said girlfriend, I would assume he already told her we weren't a real thing.
“Yeah, he had to pick me up so we would head here together,” I sighed dramatically, “you should know how much time it takes for us females to dress, especially when we're going to meet our boyfriend's family.”
She rolled her eyes, “quit the—”
“That's enough Suzy,” he said, cutting her off.
I let out a chortle, “did you come with a date?”
“You're not going to start some dumb argument at Thanksgiving,” he said in a stern tone which obviously meant ‘shut up’.
I huffed, walking past her, and was sure to hit her shoulder with mine.
“Seriously, you this f*****g asshole,” she scoffed, but I ignored her, not ready to have a fight with my rival at Thanksgiving.
Once out of their eye reach, I picked out my phone from my purse, dialling Katie's number.
She answered after the second ring, “hey girl, have you gotten here?”
“Yeah, but I'm not sure where I can get to you,” I said, “you think you can come pick me up?”
“Yeah sure, where are you?”
I searched my surroundings, noticing a pool at a far distance, “there's a pool here, so I would guess I'm a few steps from the pool.”
“Alright, will be there in a sec,”
“Alright,” I hung up, returning my phone in the purse.
After a few minutes of waiting, I noticed her by the pool with Oliver and Layla, obviously looking for me.
I waved, signalling them of my presence which worked, so they sauntered towards me.
“Hey girl,” Katie greeted, “where's Austin?”
I shook my head, “let's go grab a seat and I'll let you all in on the annoying thing that asshole did.”
“Ooo, alright.”
