Finally, Sunday had arrived and all their over care was over which meant I could freely head to Austin's place without needing guards trailing behind me.
They weren't even around at the moment. Layla had gone to party with some friends she met during Thanksgiving as a New month thing.
While Oliver went to Church to celebrate the first day of the last month of the year.
So when I'd told them I would no longer be heading to his place on Monday and would like to meet him today, they hadn't minded (since they obviously didn't want me to stay alone and die of boredom, especially on the first day of December).
The GPS told me to turn right which I heeded to, as my ringtone echoed in the car.
I answered the call, not bothering to check who the caller was.
“Hey Kim, happy new month,” Kelvin's voice had come as an unexpected surprise.
“Kelvin, happy new month to you too,” the fact I hadn't expected his call was evident in my tone.
“Sorry for calling all of the sudden,” he chuckled nervously, “are you alone at the moment?”
“Yeah?” What on earth was happening? Why was he sounding— nervous?
“Well, uh,” he drew in a deep breath, “you busy? I could call later if you don't mind,”
“I'm not busy, come on, what's wrong?” A pinch of hope flickered in me, but I didn't want to dwell too much on it in case it wasn't happening.
“Well, I just wanna ask if you'll, uh, help me out a little,”
“Help you out? How?” The GPS told me to turn left, which I did before concentrating on Kelvin.
“Actually,” he exhaled nervously, “I want to propose to Katie and would need your help,”
“Oh my gosh!” I found myself squeaking my excitement to it all. “You're really gonna do it!”
“Yep,” he chuckled, “I'm super excited, but won't lie that I'm equally nervous and would need your help a lot. Would you help me?”
“Are you kidding me?” I chortled in surprised excitement. “I'll literally do anything you want me to do, I can't believe you're actually planning on doing such.”
“Yeah, I really love her and want us to be together forever, which is why I thought proposing would be perfect.”
“It's more than perfect,” the image of the two dressed as bride and groom was the definition of perfect, “when do you plan on doing it?”
“After the new year's countdown,” there was no doubting the fact he was nervous.
And he hadn't even gone on one knee yet.
“Wow, that'll be so romantic,” I could already see it all and how romantic it'd be.
Maybe I could use it for my novel, ‘five four three two one, “will you marry me”’.
So romantic.
I turned left as directed, and the house came into view.
“Do you mind me telling Austin or you want to keep it a secret from everyone?” I asked as the car neared his duplex.
“You can tell him, but only him,” he added, “I don't want a lot of people knowing so the words don't meet her one way or another.”
“Got it,” I chuckled, “still can't believe this is happening.”
“Well you'd better believe it and not make your excitement too obvious so she doesn't get a hint,”
“Noted,” I stopped the car in front of his duplex, and we both talked about basic things relating to the proposal, including dates we might be able to meet up for further discussion and all.
After about five minutes, we said our goodbyes then hung up, giving me time to process all that was happening.
Katie was going to be proposed to soon. My best friend was going to become a bride soon.
Oh my gosh, that was…
Wow!!!
I couldn't wait for it all. So I'd be a bridesmaid very soon. Very very soon at that.
The two would be happy together since it was evident that they were meant for each other.
They suited each other perfectly.
Hopefully, they would be the one couple whose love stayed true forever, because, although I didn't believe love existed, I still wanted them to always be happy.
Let them stay happy together forever.
A head appeared by my car window, startling a yelp out of me, as my heart went close to explosion.
“What the f**k?!” I turned to who had startled me, creasing my forehead when I noticed, “Austin?”
“Do you plan on living in that car or when were you considering actually coming out?” He didn't sound like he cared one bit about my startled face.
Muttering cuss words under my breath, I unlocked the car door, placing my hand on it before pushing it open which led to him moving away from the door as I got out, closing it behind me.
“What's your problem?” I asked, still startled by his sudden appearance.
“What made you stay in there for so long?” There wasn't a slight bit of interest in his tone.
Why ask when you're not interested. What a frustrating asshole.
“Not even an apology,” obviously it was silly of me to expect one, but I still thought it'd be nice to say that.
“Let's go in,” he totally ignored me, but I knew better than to be getting annoyed by those petty things on his part.
Especially when I just got good news. It wouldn't be nice letting him spoil that.
“Aren’t you interested in knowing what made me stay in the car for that long, anymore,” my hands moved back and forth, expressing my giddiness to tell someone the good news.
“Not really,” he just started towards his house, stopping my swinging movement.
“Hey,” I hurried towards him, half running just to catch up as he was extremely fast, “trust me, it's something you'll like.”
When he didn't respond, I decided to just say it, “Kelvin plans on proposing to Katie,”
With that, he stopped, causing me to do the same with a smile wide enough to tear my face.
He stared down at me with a raised brow, “he is?”
“Mmmh hmmm,” the excitement erupted in me at the thought, “I'm super excited, finally Katie dear would be a bride.”
His expression was devoid of emotions, causing me to hurl a glare at him, “would it hurt you to at least smile? Your sister would be proposed to and you just offer no emotions.”
He didn't respond and just continued walking so I had to follow again.
“You're so annoying you know,” he was certainly good at ruining great news, “maybe that's why she's getting married before you while you just stay single for probably ever.”
Again he stopped, surprising me to do the same.
Slowly, he turned to me, holding my gaze which had come as a surprise.
Our locked gaze seized my breath, sending a huge and unexplainable spark round my entirety.
“How about I get married before she does,” he said in a tone that sent goosebumps jumping all over my skin, “will you marry me?”
Wait, what?
