Chapter Twenty Four

1008 Words
“Huh?” The surprise was probably evident in my expression because he stared at me like he didn't understand why I was so surprised. “Yeah,” but his tone was ever devoid of expression, “I know you're not able to grab things well, so I would assume you experiencing the game would make knowing it a lot better.” Did he seriously just insult my ability to grab things? I internally huffed, “but then you know how terrible I am at basketball and you want me to play with you,” a pro at the game. Obviously I wouldn't add the last part so as not to have any moment of complimenting him (though it was true). “I will obviously just teach you about the game, and we could just play a little game where I don't do much.” He was beginning to sound bored of the conversation. I had almost forgotten about the traumatic drowning, but the doctor arrived, checking me out and doing whatever stuff they did. Once he was done, he prescribed some pills I should take and things I should do, then he left. Katie had arrived to give me one of her clothes, telling me she was going to take Oliver and Layla home (which might be difficult as I'd assume they'd not want to leave me alone). About an hour later, I was ready to get back home, where I met Nora and Chris who greeted me for about thirty minutes (mostly asking how I felt). Their house was extremely crowded, with children just playing around at every single place. It was surprising. Finally, I was in Austin's car which he started and soon we were on the road. The drive was as silent as anything, only making me aware of the headache I felt more than I should be. I wished he'd turn on the radio or something. Anything to kill the silence, but he did nothing of such. When the silence and ache became unbearable, I leaned my head on the window of the car, closing my eyes and drifting to sleep. ♠ Austin Hames ♠ The GPS told me I'd reached my destination, so I stopped the car, turning to her when I noticed her head leaned against the window, with her breath steady. She was asleep. Why on earth would she fall asleep? Well, I had to remember that she literally drowned last night and the fatigue and dehydration that would follow was probably enough to make her go to sleep. Since I was in front of her house, I guess it was time for her to wake up. But then, for some reason, seeing her sleep and unaware of the world around her, made my heart warm. Truthfully, I had to admit that she was beautiful. Very beautiful actually. Her cheeks were stained with color (which was probably an effect of the weather), and I was just noticing how perfectly shaped her face was. She looked like she was created specially and different from everyone else (because she was really pretty). Her eyes were well sculptured, popping out her round face, just like her small nose. It was obvious from those full lips of hers that she'd taste sweet (just like she'd tasted the first time I'd kissed her) if I were to kiss her again. My brain immediately snapped, realizing what I was literally doing at the moment. Oh f**k, s**t. Austin, have you lost your f*****g senses? What on earth is that about kissing her? Was I crazy or what? Annoyed at myself for such thoughts, I cleared my throat loudly, startling her to wake up in surprise. Her eyes looked sleepy as she turned to me, staring like she was trying to process where she was. “You're home, leave.” Due to how annoyed I was at myself, my tone came out more stern than intended. But then, who cares. She rubbed her eyes, opening the door, “thanks for the ride,” then offered me a small smile before getting out, closing the door once she was out. I didn't bother replying, just started the car and zoomed off, not still able to accept the fact that I was admiring her beauty. Well, it wasn't like it's such a bad thing to admire someone's beauty. It was just me admiring. After about thirty minutes of driving, I was back at my parents place (because according to them, the day after Thanksgiving was meant for family). When the car came to a halt, a guard sauntered towards me, opening the door for me which I got out of, walking past him as he closed the door. As I headed towards the door, my blood immediately boiled at the sight of Justin coming out of the house. We both took slow strides towards each other, stopping some feet in front of each other. Rolling my eyes, I said, “thought you'd have left since this is now a family Thanksgiving.” A side of his lips crept upwards, “of course I'd stay. It's not like I've got any business doing that'd make me not want to stay with my family during such a holiday for four years.” It annoyed me that he was talking about basketball taking time, “I guess you should also remember that this business made me known worldwide while yours is probably on the verge of getting ruined.” If he was annoyed, just like I would, he didn't make it show, “hmm, at least I would not have to not be with my girl, while unlike you, who seems to like your girlfriend. “You're just planning on placing the innocent girl on a four year wait,” he snickered, but I didn't understand what he meant one bit. He must've noticed because his lopsided smile widened, “you'll understand, trust me, but in the hard way,” then he walked past me. What an annoying guy. I hated him.
