Chapter 7

981 Words
“Did you eat the cookies that aunty Irene baked?” Charles was not shocked to see aunty Irene walk in the door moments after his mum traveled back to New York for business. He expected it and prepared himself for it. He found Charlie and aunty Irene quite similar in their behaviors, but what was worse was that they always felt the need to be around him and get involved in everything he does. He remembered just moments after she came, she held a tickle party and he was forced to join, he was almost killed by that woman. Then they helped her bake cookies, which was a simple process which confused him on why she needed help. Then they forcefully sat next to him as he practiced his piano asking him questions every second, which lead him to teaching Charlie how to play simple keys “Yes” He said as he stopped himself from giving her details of his horrid day Ava's smile grew wider as he affirmed his day was just as great, as she internally thanked Irene for being there for her kids even when she couldn't. “How are you mum?” He asked again as he noticed she didn't answer the first time which warmed Ava's heart “Mummy's doing great Hun, and she loves you all very much” She said and after a few words of instructions and pleasantries, and asked for their nanny and she got off the phone. The Blackwoods just declared war…and she was all for it. Damon sat behind his desk with a stick of cigarette in his hand, his dark brown eyes sharp as he tried to analyze all that was going on in front of him as he threw his head back occasionally in frustration. Nothing made sense, there was no reason Ava should be after his company when he should be the one still angry. She was the one who fought her way into his night, by drugging him and throwing herself at him. Then she made him stuck in a loveless and pitiful marriage. She was lucky all he did was file for a divorce and chase her out of his sight, if he really wanted to, he would have hunted her for the rest of her days. When did she even learn so much about business that he wanted to go head on with the Blackwoods industry,it was nothing but wishful thinking, sure she is doing good now and going strong, there was a reason the Blackwoods were the most respected in their game. Losing investors like Clay was bad, but it was simply a pebble thrown at an ocean. Still a lot of things didn't add up, and the frustration only made him angrier, soon his office line started to ring Picking up the call, he head the shaky breath of the housekeeper at the other side of the line “Si…Sir Damon…I just wanted to confirm if you would be home for dinner?” She said in one breath as Damon's eyes darkened Looking outside the window, he was so lost in thought that he didn't even realize when the sky darkened “No” The line was flat with a beep after his response as the housekeeper tried to calm herself in sharp breaths before looking at the madam of the house. She couldn't understand why she asked the boss if he would be home for dinner, when it was a blue moon before he even took a thirty minute stop home. It was quite impossible for him to suddenly change his ways and stay for a whole hour…not to talk at dinner. “Madam….” “Shut up” Her reply was harsh as the housekeeper tried to stop herself from breathing. Few hours earlier during lunch, she has a far-fetched idea that if she could get her husband home for dinner, she could spike something, anything of his to get him to sleep with her. She has never felt it was urgent before, but she couldn't say the same now. But she got cold feet and asked the housekeeper to do it on her behalf. The sense of urgency tickled in as she immediately got up and headed outside “Clear the food” She said leaving the house keeper astonished, ‘was madam going to leave the house in that’ Picking up her phone she made a call After getting her reply she immediately picked a random key from the shelf as she got to the garage, pushing a button a Rolls Royce car flashes its headlights. Getting into it she raced to the office. Damon and her were the IT couple. Perfect background, perfect face, held hands in public….it was a dream…a lucid one. They only met in public, only talked in public, she was pretty sure that he didn't have her phone number, the love that they once so eagerly shared was dead and buried, leaving an empty space, and no matter how hard Lily tries to fight for her marriage, it was like fighting a losing battle. She got to the company and she got out of her car, her red night robe trailing behind her, and her hands held two bottles of champagne. Passing through the company doors was not a hassle for her as she was the wife, entering the elevator she had her fingers crossed. Going up to her husband's office, her eyes glowed as she saw the door was open, she didn't have to spend an hour or more trying to crack the code. The huge office was empty, giving her enough time to pull the stunt she wanted, but since the door was open, she knew he didn't go far. Immediately she pulled out two champagne cups from the additional room as she poured into them “Lily”
