Chapter 74: Jennifer

"Sure." Jennifer got out of the low-slung sports car. Though the café doors were open, the tables weren't set yet. She didn't see customers. A few servers were moving about inside. Jennifer pushed her sunglasses up on her head and strode toward the entrance. Orion fell in behind her. He was taking this watch-her-back stuff literally. She resisted the urge to smile. She could be amused later. Inside, a radio played softly. They stood at the front doors for almost a full minute before a young man carrying a crate full of glasses to the bar saw them. "Sorry, we aren't open," he said in heavily accented English. "I'm here to see Uwe," Jennifer replied. The young man's eyes widened. He quickly set his burden on the closest table and wiped his hands on the apron protecting his clothing.
