As Gaspar headed to his room, he saw his sister Cecily walking out of her room, and he could swear that the sneakers she wore were extremely familiar.
"Are those my sneakers..." He made to ask but recalled that he has longer legs. If that was really his sneakers, then it wouldn't fit her leg so well.
"Where are you going?" He called out to her as she made her way down the stairs.
"I'm taking my new bodyguard out. He's so hot." Cecily replied, her cheeks turning red as she thought of him.
Gaspar’s lips curled up in disgust. “I thought you were ready to get married.”
“Yeah, but not to you, so shut up,” she said, placing her index finger on her lips and Gaspar scoffed.
“Mr. T?” Cecily called out in the most sexiest feminine voice Gaspar had ever heard.
“Yes, Ms. C.” A young man came in from the door and walked towards her.
A young man approached Cecily, dressed in a black suit that fits him perfectly well. "Yes, Ms. C."
Gaspar scoffed. The bodyguard was sure hot but seriously? Was Cecily's action proper for someone who would soon be married?
“Why are you always frowning?” Cecily asked him.
Mr. Thane, T for short looked down and bowed slightly, not knowing what to say at her question.
Gaspar walked into his room, ignoring them.
“We’re going to my BF's house, so I want you to follow me."
"At your service, Ma'am." he said and showed her the exit.
Cecily blushed and walked toward the door. She walked out and walked toward her car.
She had already informed the driver that she was going out, so the driver had already driven her car out of the garage and was in front of the house.
While in the car, Cecily asked again, “Why are you always frowning?”
“Would you take me seriously if I was always smiling?” he asked.
“Well, you will be hotter if you were always smiling. I mean, if i didn’t have a boyfriend, I would have dated you."
“Thank goodness you have a boyfriend,” he replied.
Cecily frowned. “What’s that supposed to mean? Am I not attractive enough?”
“You are, but you should go for men who deserve you—I don’t have a name,”
Cecily smiled, then said, “But you’re cute without a name.” She smiled, then he glanced at her.
“Please, stop looking at my face. You should look at the road,” he said.
“But the driver’s already doing that,” Cecily replied.
“I know, but the driver can miss a vehicle. If your eyes are fixed on the road, you’ll see it.”
“What if the driver and I both miss the vehicle?"
Thane sighed in frustration at her words.
Cecily chuckled. “I know you’re feeling awkward because I keep staring at you.”
"Then, stop staring,” he blurted out, almost yelling, then turned to the road, leaving Cecily shocked.
“Watch out!” Thane yelled at the driver, who almost hit a group of young men rushing to cross the road.
“Jeez! These guys!” the driver exclaimed in anger. He would have had to pay a fine if he didn’t quickly press the brake pedal.
Thane strained his eyes to see what the group was after. He noticed them beating someone up at the corner, and his eyes went wide with shock as he recognized the person.
“Stop the car!” he ordered.
“Why?” Cecily and the driver asked.
“Now!” he said, his voice firmer.
The driver stopped the car, and Thane quickly got out. He rushed toward the men.
“Stop!”
The burly gang stopped stomping on their victim and slowly turned toward Thane.
Cecily turned to the driver and asked, “What’s he doing?” She wondered why Thane had suddenly told the driver to stop the car and go after the gang.
“I’m guessing he knows them. Did your father run a background check on him before hiring him?”
Cecily eyed the driver, then turned back to the window. “Shouldn’t he be careful?” she said, worry on her face as she watched him. “That seems dangerous.”
“I would have said the gang should be careful, because Thane is a skilled fighter. That’s why your father hired him,” the driver told her, even though she hadn’t asked.
Outside the car, Thane stared at the gang’s victim. It was Tripp, Thane’s twin brother. They were identical twins.
“T-Thane,” Tripp called weakly, his lips dripping with blood.
“Oh! You’re his twin. The one who works for a wealthy man but can’t pay your brother’s debts,” a burly man said. He was bigger than the others and looked like their leader.
“Yes, I’m Thane. But who are you?” Thane demanded, his eyes darkening as he watched his brother bleeding from the lips.
“Your brother took $800 from me and has refused to pay. I just thought I’d beat him up. You got a problem with that?”
Thane rolled his eyes and clenched his fist. The leader’s last words only spiked his anger. He reached into his pocket, pulled out his wallet, and counted out twenty $100 bills.
“That’s $2,000. Keep the change. You’ll need it for your hospital bills,” Thane said.
“Huh?” the leader said, confusion on his face.
Thane slowly stepped back, planted one foot firmly on the ground, then delivered a powerful kick to the leader’s face, sending him flying several meters. The leader felt lightheaded as he hit the floor. He looked up at his gang and ordered, “Kill him!”
The gang rushed at him. Thane threw a strong punch with a swift move, sending his next attacker crumpling to the ground with a loud _smack!_ Another attacker swung at him. Thane blocked it. Their fists collided, and the sound of breaking bones echoed through the air. The attacker let out a bloodcurdling scream.
“Ah!” he cried, clutching his shattered hand.
“That is so cool,” Cecily said as she stared at Thane in awe.
Seizing the opportunity, Thane gripped the injured man’s wrist and flung him into the next attacker, sending both men flying through the air and crashing to the ground in a heap. The remaining three attackers turned pale and fled, abandoning their leader and injured comrades.
Thane started to go after them, anger boiling in him, but he heard police sirens and rushed to his brother instead.
Cecily opened the car door and yelled, “Get lost, you dummies. I called the police!”
Thane helped his brother onto his shoulder and got him into the car. As soon as they were in, the driver drove off.
Thane turned to Cecily and apologized for bringing his brother into the car without permission.
“It’s okay,” Cecily smiled, finding it amusing that he had a twin.
“I’m sure she doesn’t mind,” Tripp said and winced at Cecily.
“Hi,” Cecily waved at him with a smile. “I’m Cecily.”
“I’m Tripp.” Tripp stretched out his hand for a handshake, but Thane pulled his hand away.
“You don’t want us to shake hands?” Cecily asked Thane.
“He’ll flirt with you. He’s a playboy.”
“I know. He has that calm, playful face of a playboy,” Cecily said and stretched out her hand anyway. Even though they were identical, she could tell which one was the troublemaker.
Tripp smiled, took her hand, pulled it gently to his lips, and kissed it. Thane rolled his eyes at his brother’s antics. Cecily blushed when he let go and winked at her. She almost fell for it but quickly looked away. She was interested in Thane, not bleeding Tripp. _Thank goodness his blood didn’t touch my hands_, Cecily thought.
“So, what’s your favorite color, Ms. Cecily?” Tripp asked.
“Pink. Why do you ask?”
“My brother loves pink too. You two match.”
“What are you doing?” Thane whispered in Tripp’s ear.
“She’ll like you if you have a lot in common,” Tripp whispered back.
“But I don’t like pink.”
“Pretend!”
Tripp turned back to Cecily. “So, what do you think?”
“Hmm… I think Mr. T likes violet, and you just lied. I always see him in violet suits,” Cecily said.
“But he’s wearing a black suit now.”
“I know.” Cecily turned to Thane. “Thane, what’s your favorite color?”
Thane’s eyes widened. This was the first time she’d called him by his name.
“You forgot the formalities, Ms. C,” Thane said.
_Oh gosh, what do I do with you? Calling him without formalities is the best thing in this situation_, Tripp thought, feeling disappointed in his brother.
“My apologies,” Cecily said.
“You can drop me off here. I’m tired of trying to make a relationship work when there isn’t one,” Tripp told the driver.
Both Cecily and Thane frowned at his words. The driver stopped the car, and Tripp got out.
“What does he mean?” Cecily asked.
“My brother usually says stupid stuff. Get used to it,” Thane replied.
“I’m so curious about him,” Cecily said, and Thane felt jealous. _Those charming looks of his got to her._
“What about me? Aren’t you curious about me?” Thane muttered, mustering the courage to ask.
“Of course I am. I’m way more curious about you than your brother, Mr. Frowny.”
Thane glanced at the window, and a small smile formed at the corner of his lips. The driver, seeing it in the rearview mirror, thought, _That i***t likes her._
