Chapter 33 We’d been at the lagoon for a few weeks. A few, marvelous weeks, where I’d never felt so loved or been so happy. Dinah noticed, although no one else seemed to. Fortunately, she hadn’t said anything about it, beyond murmuring in my ear, “I really hope it’s not Sam.” “It’s not,” I’d assured her. She’d patted my shoulder and swung a leg over the transom. “Then enjoy yourself.” And she’d dropped into the lagoon’s quiet waters. I have to leave, Ric’u told me shortly after I’d finished breakfast. I didn’t ask Again? Since we’d first gotten together, my lover had been slipping away for a few hours every day to tend to something, although he hadn’t told me what it was he was tending to, and I was reluctant to ask.
