"You know Sydney, I do think the tide is coming in! Tell me Syd dear! Have you learned how to swim yet?" chuckles Jordan as he holds on to me tightly.

"Let her go!" demands Finn as he tries to get free.

"Please, Jordan, do not hurt her! She has a baby now!" squeals Riley with worry.

"Jordan no!" worries Hudson.

"Everyone calm down or someone is going to lose their life. Is that what you all really want?" Jordan yells as he holds a gun at each one of us to place fear inside of us.

"Guys remain calm" I tell them.

I could tell Finn wanted to ring Jordan's neck for all the crap he has done to us. Why couldn't he let us live? Leave us alone?

"Good little girl" laughs Jordan.

He makes his way over to the ocean where he had Crystal and Hudson trapped in a net contraption. The water was cold that night as Jordan dragged me to a pole under the board walk.

"Don't! No! She can't swim!" yelps poor Finn. "You will pay for this! All of it!" warns an angered Finn.

"Maybe you will be the first I will knock off if you do not shut that pretty boy mouth of yours" warns Jordan. We were knee deep in water. My fear of water rushed to my mind.

"Please Jordan, you have to be a good person deep down. You just want things to work your way..."I stammer as he yanks my hands back.

"Shut up!" he warns me.

"Alright, okay..."I stammer.

He ties me to a pole in the deepest end.

"Tight. No way are you going to get free now" he chuckles.

Tears come to me. I was going to lose my life. I would lose out on raising Rafe. On marrying Finn. All of my dreams were going to die with me. This was it. I was going to die the worst way I imagined. I was going too drowned.

"Finn, I love you. If you get free take care of him for me" I call out as the waves began to get deeper.

"No! Do not say good-bye! This is not over!" warns Finn.

"I love you all" I promise.

"Syd!" cries Riley.

"I love you Syd! This is far from over!" Finn calls back to me. A shot rings out causing us all to cry out. All eyes were on Jordan now.

"All of you do please shut up will you? You are giving me a headache" groans Jordan.

"Set her free! You killer!" screams Riley.

"Mouthy little scamp I have here huh?" chuckles Jordan. He yanks Riley's hair back and holds the gun to her neck.

"Please do not hurt them!" I beg with fear.

Hudson grunted as he tries to get to Riley. He could not be free of the net he was trapped in. This was no use. We were going to die. He was going to win. He was going to take off with Hudson and Crystal. And there was nothing we could do about it. Jordan let's go of Riley. I sigh feeling relief flood in me. The waters were near my neck now. I gag as water splashes in my face. I shiver as goosebumps rush over my cool skin.

"Syd!" cries Finn helplessly.

"Let them go!" I hear someone say suddenly. A shot rings out. I see her!

Gram and my mother. Gram brought her gun.

"Who are you?" Jordan demands to know as he points his gun at them.

"Do it and you're a dead boy walking" warns Gram.

"Grandma!" I cry.

"Syd!" mother cries with worry.

"How did you find me?" I call back.

"Your phone is tracked. Since what happened the last time I figured it is better to keep track of you" Gram tells me. I sigh.

"This is such a sweet reunion. But I have to get these merfolk to the government" Jordan snaps at them.

"You will take them over my dead body" wars Gram.

"That can be arranged" jokes Jordan. Gram shoots his way. Jordan jumps as he drops the gun in his hands. Mother grabs his gun.

"Get down now! You ass!" mother demands as she kicks Jordan down to the ground with her foot.

"Free Hudson and Crystal gram!" I call back desperately.

Gram went to work freeing everyone. First Hudson and Crystal. Crystal made her way to my side. She rescued me. She smiles as she helps me walk up to the shore. Where I meet Finn. He rushes into my arms. He holds me tight.

"Hudson, Crystal get going! I am going to call the police to arrest this ass hat" gram warns everyone.

Hudson and Crystal wave to us before heading off into the ocean. Jordan groans in defeat.

"No! No! No! They got away! Now why did you have to go and do that? We could have made a deal. Made big bucks on them!" he groans.

"They are not money sonny. They are family" gram snaps at him as she presses his face in the sand. Soon the cops come and they arrest Jordan. It was all over with. At last.

Finn holds me close.

"You are freezing Syd" he worries over me. He kisses me.

"Now we can get married" I say happily.

We walk to the cars to head home after the police take our statements. We got home late the next day. I changed into dry clothing as fast as I could. Now the wedding could happen. I wanted to marry Finn before anything else happened.

"I sure am glad you are safe" says Riley when she hands me a hot cup of tea gram made for us.

"Me to" I sigh.

"I sure am going to miss Hudson" she replies wistfully.

"Why not stay here with us? You are more than welcome to" I say.

"No, I am going to visit my grandpa soon for the summer. He is all alone. He needs me. Besides I could never be with Hudson. We are worlds apart' she sighs.

"Never say never. Finn found his way to me" I say as I smile.

"Maybe one day after the wedding I will see him again" she says as she smiles sadly.

"Finn! Syd! You guys made the news! Come see!" calls my mother. We head into the living room to see what the commotion was about. I sit beside Finn on the couch. Gram held little Rafe in her lap. She hands him over to me.

"Crazy man claims there are merfolk out there in the sea. He kidnaps people in search saying one of them was a merman! Crazy he says that. This nut is now safely behind bars. The kidnapped victims are now safe and sound from the crazy man" reports the lady on the channel seven news.

I spot us leading our way to the car. Jordan was being placed under arrest. When had the news been there? I giggle. Jordan finally was away from us. We were safe.

"Syd?" Finn asks me.

"Yes?" I ask. He kisses me.

"Marry me" he replies.

"I plan on it" I giggle.

"Tomorrow. I do not want to wait another moment. Everything tries to stops us. I want you to be my wife" he vows.

"I want you as my husband. Of course I will be happy to marry you!" I giggle. The wedding was moved up! This was going to happen!
