Chapter Fifteen
She was woken in the morning by a knock at the door. She sat up in bed, her naked breasts showing above the sheet.
“Come in,” she called, expecting Alex. But it was William, with a polished wooden tray on which were a silver teapot, a toast rack, a peeled orange, and a bowl of steaming cereal. Hurriedly she pulled the sheet up round her neck, but William pretended not to notice her embarrassment.
“Mr Alex presents his compliments. He has left for work, but he will see you in the library at six. Until then you may do as you please.”
