A Rough ride

I got up early in the morning going through the final phase of my plan with zora and zahir for the last time. Our plan as simple and well detailed as it was, deemed to be a tough and dangerous task. The bodyguards were armed with pistols meaning at any point in time, it can get really rough.

I got up , went to the corner of the room and prayed to God. If not anything, I still have someone up there watching and protecting me, I Finished praying, went into the shower and freshened up.

I walked up to the kitchen and got ready for the day. Mr cranky could be down here any minute for his breakfast and I need to prepare it on time. I broke two eggs into a white bowl, added a little portion of milk just as Mr Alex liked it and whisked it all up into a perfect egg paste. Heating the pan, I opened the fridge and took out four sausages. I added oil to the pan , added my sausages and fried them shallow brown. When it was done, I removed them from the pot into a plate and fried the eggs into a sunny side omelette. I added a little pinch of salt to taste and black pepper.

Madelyn who was with me the whole time took out three loaves of bread and placed it into the toasting machine. The toasted bread was done with a deep brown color and a little burnt façade on it. I played the breakfast neatly on the plate and poured him a cold glass of his favorite Italian wine.

Few minutes after i was done with prepping his breakfast, he came downstairs to eat. He placed the proteins on one layer of the bread while covering it with the other loaf making a sandwich. He took a bite , chewing everything in and out of the corners of his mouth and opened his eyes.

“ Fantastica” he said

I smiled really satisfied with his reaction knowing fully well I had gotten him happy that morning. He cleared every bit of bread crumbs on the plate leaving none in view.

He got up , wore his really expensive watch and headed to his car while devante followed suit with Mr Alex suit on one arm and his briefcase on the other. Mr Alex was only putting on a white ironed shirt and a black tie that hugged his body and showed his muscle and abs. He looked really good at that moment as I envisioned him shirtless.

The sound of the horn brought me back to reality.Moments after Mr Alex left I went back to my room and gave them an update on what was going on.

“ He just left for the office right now, he was satisfied with the brekkie “

“ The change of guards happens around 12:45 pm according to the footages I got from the cctv. You have to be in the building latest by 12:30 pm and then slowly make your way to the target.”

“ Alright zahir, it’s just 7:55 am now, I’ll leave here by 11:30. You’ll have to come pick me up by at the courtside resort two streets away from here . We have to leave no traces remember “

“ I’ll come pick you up Ava by that time, please be ready”

“ I will zahir, any updates on the files zora”

“ I haven’t gotten anything yet, I’m trying to bypass the security codes but the firewall is just too strong. “

“ I leave that to you zora, have you all had breakfast?”

“ No we haven’t “ they both echoed

“ you guys need to get something to eat to increase your energy, it’s going to be a long day, take a few mins break “

“ Alright zora, you should get something to eat since yunno we aren’t the ones breaking into the building and will be doing a lot of action”

“ Haha zahir, I sure will, your lazy ass will thank me when I see you “

“ I went on a early morning walk this morning around 5am, I did some push-ups, some lunges-“

“ Zahir enough of the talk, keep watching the footages and Let us know when there is a change” zora butted in, trying to get zahir to focus.

It was 11:25pm, I was standing right in front of my bathroom mirror adding final touches to my outfit. Madelyn had left earlier for the market and wasn’t back yet. I wore my uniform with my second outfit in a bread basket. I didn’t want to draw suspicions to me especially since the house had cameras all over, I had to look and act natural as possible. I got out of the gate and let out a deep sigh. Everything was going smoothly according to plan. I walked to our meet point and met zahir waiting. He passed me his helmet and we left. We had a quick stop at the hideout where I changed into a black leather jacket with a black leather pants and black boots. I had a black mask on to hide my face.

We drove till we got to the back of the Mc towers building. There was a back gate usually not opened for people except the company high ranking officials and executives.

I walked up to the door and it opened ,I got into the building , walked straight to the executive elevator and took it to the third floor.

I got to the third floor and then zora made the elevator shut down. I was stuck inside the elevator while awaiting the signal from her.

“ Now zora”

The elevator opened and the hallway was clear, with no human in site. I walked to the fire alarm , broke through the glass with the sledge hammer that hung right beside it . I pressed the button and the sirens went off. I could hear footsteps scrambling through the hall, some very faint, some that sounded very close . All the doors opened and yes zora was right about the fire alarm. I walked into the office and started my search.

“ zora, you have eight minutes till the fire truck get here. Everyone has exited the building and are all standing outside. Good luck girl”

I opened the drawers one after the other but he files were too many to search through in such a short time. I paused trying to catch my breath and wiping the non existent sweat over my face. I was getting tensed and that could spoil a lot for me.

I took two deep breaths and continued my search.

“ You have three minutes more zora, the fire truck is getting real close”

I was not even done searching through a full sided wall of drawers. It was just a lot of files and I didn’t think I could get that document I came there for.

“ One minute zora, start prepping to leave the building now”

I haven’t even found the document yet. I continued searching, ignoring the commands I was getting.

“ Zora , leave now, they’re in the building and are entering the elevator right now”

My visions started to get really blurry and I was loosing my focus. I was going to get caught, no escaping this. Why will I get caught before my plans even took off.

I placed one hand on the wall trying to catch my breath, I could see tears running down my eyes,

I failed. I failed my mom. I failed zora and zahir. I failed my news company.

“ They are on the third floor , three are heading your way zora”

I bent and hid under the table that sat in the middle of the room. I had just accepted that I was going to jail for years . After all I did know the consequences of breaking into a company unlawfully. I could hear the thumping of my heart. I could hear the contractions and dilations of my blood vessels as blood was pumping. I was having panic attacks .

Boom, the door opened. This was it, this was the end.

“ Not this room, I already checked, there’s no fire here”

The fire fighters looked at each other confused at what was coming out of his mouth.

“ You should check other rooms and floors, but I assure you there’s no fire here”

I opened my eyes when a cold hand grabbed my hand and pulled me from under the table.

He handed me some files and smiled.

“ Here, take this, make sure you expose him and everyone involved Ava”
