“Hi mama! She said as she picked her up from the big mattress that her best friend had earlier arranged for them in their spare room. She couldn’t bring in her little brown wooden baby cot she got from the carpenter, specially made for her.
Giggles filled the air. Little Ava just made everywhere full of life with her little coos.
“Alright I guess you wanted to be picked up you silly goose”, she gave out a big smile to Ava who almost responded back.
Mario came in with the ball of wool already soaked in methylated spirit. He used it to cleanse the bruise whilst he pecked her to distract her from the sting she might feel anytime soon.
“Owwww! She cried out.
“It’s just a little pain my love. Now it won’t bleed anymore.”
They both went outside with Ava to meet the Pedros .
They all sat together with the four chairs facing the giant fireplace that heated them up as the eerily cold evening breeze touched their skins.
They all discussed about the wedding and Estrella got to hear it all from Mario herself, just like she said, his own pov.

Mario got his life together not just for him but for his family. In three years he was able to get a 2 bed 2 bath country home with a big yard and moved his family in. Ava was now tall and was engaging in conversations. She showed so much brilliance at her young age. She was able to recite all the alphabets at a year, 6 months. Her parents were in awe of her brilliance. She takes after me , her father proudly said one afternoon.
Ava grew up to be one of the best students in the district and was in her principal’s honor row. She went for so many competitions which she represented her school for. Her parents were really proud of her achievements and she bringing glory to the family.
After high school, she applied to Florida state university and was awarded a huge scholarship which was totally tuition free, accommodation free and she was even given stipends. She was to study mass communication.
On move in day, her parents were so emotional. They couldn’t be more proud of their daughter. She was in the university now.
A big girl but will forever be the little Ava who’s coos lit up the room.
First day of classes went well. She sat few rows to the back as she listened to the lecturer. It was a very different setting. Quite different from high school.
She attended lectures regularly, was one of the few that got to class early and always sat at the front. She retained her streak, she came first out of over 200 students after the first year.
She caught the eye of lecturers, although she was very focused, she didn’t give space for any distraction.
Things were going very well until she went for her first party.
