Chapter 4 The Luna's Greatest Fear

1281 Words
Eric and Isabella found themselves in the midst of an unfamiliar pack of werewolves. At first, they were confused as to where they were. This was not their pack or any other pack known to them. Then it dawned on them that Lucas had taken them back in time as they had requested. Eric noticed that his skin looked smoother and the hairs on his skin were now darker than they had been for a long time now. Isabella. Where is she? He thought of looking around for her until he saw her at the other end of where the pack were spread out. Eric looked at her. She was beautiful and elegant and her skin shone like she had given it a thorough scrub. There were no longer streaks of white hair on her head. Eric walked up to her and held her close. His wish had finally come true. The other members of the pack seemed to be very engrossed in what one of their members was saying. He was most likely their Alpha. He spoke with so much authority and wisdom. It seemed that the pack were not yet aware of the presence of their two new members. They carried on with their activities like it was normal to have new members in their midst. Had it been his pack, the Noona pack, there would have been a scuffle to drive them away. They would have been considered invaders. But not this pack. He held on to Isabella tightly. He would protect her with his own life if a fight finally occurred. “Eric.” He suddenly heard his name being called out. It was the one talking. It was the Alpha. How did he know his name so quickly? Eric thought. “Your mind seems to be very far from us. As my beta and the next in command, I expected to get your full attention.” “I’m sorry Alpha …” What was his name? Eric wondered. Isabella looked around them now. It was obvious that though they had just travelled back in time, to their new pack to the pack, they had always been there with them. That was good. They were safe. Eric would not have to fight battles to keep them remaining in the pack. Then, to her surprise, she hears her name being mentioned. That her name had been mentioned was not what had surprised her but the fact that the one that had called out to her had addressed her as ‘Omega Isabella’. In their new life she was just an omega, which was a very far cry from the Luna of the pack she was coming from. That was okay, she resolved. Eric was her mate, and so she would soon assume a better role, she thought. They probably were not married yet. “Omega Isabella.” She heard her name being called out once more, immediately bringing her out of her thoughts. “You will have to get Luna Maria and her daughter prepared once she arrives. The ceremony would be taking place as soon as she gets here.” “Yes Alpha …” They still hadn’t gotten the chance to know their Alpha’s name. As they started to disperse, she held on to Eric, suddenly confused as to what they were expected to do next. “You look so beautiful,” Eric said, happy he had asked for this wish. “You also look so handsome, my …..” She was going to say ‘my Alpha’ but she immediately realized that it would have spelled a death sentence for the both of them if they addressed themselves with their old titles and any member of the pack ever got to hear it. I have never been an omega before. She thought. How am I going to cope with handling this new title, especially in this new pack which she was yet to know their rules. “Is something bothering you, Isabella? Eric asked, reading the expression on her face. “No, I was just wondering how long it was going to take us to finally settle into our new roles with our new pack.” “Let’s take a walk,” Eric said, holding her hands and pulling her along with him. “I feel so brand new.” “I feel the same way too. She said. Then Eric suddenly started sprinting down the fields and she found herself doing the same and enjoying every single bit of it as the evening breeze brushed against their faces. Eric was right. It felt so good to be young again. They found themselves close to a stream and decided to drink some water. It was so refreshing that all their actions could now be done fast because they felt much stronger. Then she saw it. It was a reflection of herself. She looked so young and beautiful. Just as she had been many years ago. “Eric! Oh, Eric!!” She called out, alarming him. “What is it my dear Isabella?” “I can’t believe it. This was exactly what I looked like as a young lady.” “Was that not what we wanted?” Eric asked puzzled. “Yes darling, but I had almost forgotten how beautiful I was back then.” “Say no more, dear,” Eric said to her, pulling her to himself. They had made love right there and then by the waterside. And when they were done, they laid sprawled out on the grassland for a while before rising to go back to their new pack. “Catch me if you can,” Eric shouted, sprinting off suddenly and putting a very wide distance between them. “You cheat.” She shouted back out to him and took off too. It was surely going to be almost impossible for her to catch up with Eric. He had always been very athletic and he had already created a wide gap between them already. However, she enjoyed the fact that she could sprint without feeling any pain. They were both young again. The powerful breeze could not hinder her moving forward anyway. She tried to move as fast as she could. Hoping not to lose track of Eric. He was now way ahead of her. Then she lost sight of him. Isabella panicked. It was dangerous for her to be out here alone. She was scared if she did not move faster another pack could sight her and try to fight her. With Eric by her side, she had no such fears. He was very good in battles with other packs. His very toned body was evidence of that. Isabella ran faster, hoping to at least sight Eric but it was obvious that he was far gone. She ran alone for a long while. This was strange. It was so unlike Eric to leave her alone for so long, most especially when he knew they were both new here. Isabella began to panic as she increased her speed more out of fear than wanting to catch up with Eric. Then she sighted Eric from afar. His back was turned to her. What was he staring at that had taken so much of his attention that he had abandoned her out there? As she drew closer, she lessened her speed, still wondering what it was that Eric was so engrossed in. “Show off,” she said as she finally bumped into him from behind, but he had totally ignored her. Then she saw what it was and, for the first time, Isabella’s greatest fear began to creep in.
