“Finally!” My eyes were shining as I gazed at the manor-style house in the middle of the expansive yard.
This is the first time I have seen the place. That’s why I can’t stop myself from getting excited.
“Nothing changes, except the building behind the manor,” Jacob uttered as he parked the car.
“Perhaps they want to preserve the beautiful scenery of the land, so they didn’t do much in here,” I remarked.
I was worried that Jacob might think that my mother had been doing her job properly.
“My Scarlett, in five years a lot should have been done here. Do you know that our pack is one of the laggards when it comes to modern facilities?” Jacob retorted as he turned to me.
“Huh! My mother’s been working so hard for you and your pack! Then here you are, insulting her management?!” I furiously said while holding back the tears.
“Your too emotional love ... I’ve been contacting aunt Ana for the past five years, so I know everything that’s going on inside the council,” Jacob’s voice became gentle as he wiped the tears from my eyes.
“You’re a bully!” I retorted and pushed Jacob away. But he did not let go of me, instead, took me in his arms.
“What are you doing? Let me go!” Although I was pushing Jacob, it wasn’t that strong. Because my annoyance can’t beat the assurance given by Jacob’s embrace.
“I’ll go out first so you can calm yourself before you get out of the car,” Jacob whispered.
“What is wrong with me? Am I getting horny? Why with his simple touch... Do I feel turned on? The spark, every time he touches me... I feel electricity running into my core... His scent... Why is Jacob’s scent intoxicating me? I mumble to myself while signing.
“Forget him, Scarlett Snow! It’s your first time being intimate with the male gender. Perhaps your reaction will be the same with another man!” I mumbled to myself; with that in mind, I decided before getting out of the car.
“Are you ready?” Jacob asked as I approached. He looked at his watch and so did I. We were one hour late for the meeting, so I felt anxious, but Jacob remained calm and unbothered as he walked through the front door.
--------
The receiving area of Emerald remains simple. Like outside, nothing can be seen to be pompous here.
“Where’s everyone?” I asked with astonishment. We had been walking for a few minutes, but we still didn’t see a member of the Emerald pack.
“Probably in the assembly room,” Jacob answered while periodically turning to look at me.
“Later, the council will ask you something—”
The rest of Jacob’s words stopped when the big door we were heading to open. From there, my mother came out with a dark depression on her face.
“Mom!” I called her excitedly.
“Scarlett, Jacob! Finally! What took you so long? Do you want some grand entrance?” My mother asked, hugging me and then Jacob.
“Mom, I swear it’s not my fault! I’m ready at seven, but this alpha thinks he is special and okay to be late!” I answered and looked at Jacob with reprehension.
“Looks like they aren’t listening to your request,” Jacob commented meaningfully.
“Yes, I failed, so it’s up to you now,” Ana answered and signed.
“Mom, mind telling me what is wrong? Is there a problem aside from the complaint about the alpha of the Blue Moon pack?” I asked while staring at my mother, then Jacob.
“Hmm, my beautiful Scarlett seems to capture the heart of every alpha,” my mother remarked with a smile.
But instead of understanding, I was even more confused. Add the shadow on Jacob’s face. He walked quietly into the conference room, leaving my mother and me behind.
“Mom, are you sure he’s the real Jacob Hale? This guy’s temperament is different from my uncle's,” I commented; my mother and I walked in as well.
------
Wow, it looks like the pack respects him. I couldn’t help but be surprised when we caught up with Jacob standing in front of the pack members. With the look of everyone, they respect Jacob Hale.
“I know the pack suffered because I had to leave you. Although our Luna did an amazing job handling the problem out of town and inside,” Jacob affirmed while staring at the council.
The council is made up of five powerful families in the Emerald City. They are the decision-makers besides the alpha and the Luna.
But the council became greedy; they didn’t let my mother decide on essential things.
“Alpha, now that you’re here everything will be settled, the packs who underestimated us will be stopped,” one of the packs remarks.
“We’ll work on that, but first let’s end the issue with Scarlett Snow,” Jacob’s smirk vanished as he looked at the council meaningfully.
My mother guided me to the front where Jacob was standing. It’s my first time facing the pack, so I can’t help but be nervous.
“So, the Luna decided to show her little princess to us!” one of the council remarks while looking at me from head to toe.
“It’s my decision not to bring Scarlett in the pack,” Jacob answered the council.
I quickly had a look at Jacob. I didn’t expect that I would be accepted by the pack because of him. But why? We never see each other, so I can’t think of a reason.
“And can you tell your reason?” the council asked coldly.
“Mom, what is going on?” I murmured.
I know that I was called because of what happened at the airport, but in the course of the conversation, there seemed to be another reason.
“My reason? Scarlett Snow is waiting for her mate!” Jacob affirmed.
I blushed to hear Jacob’s declaration; I didn’t know why my mate was included in the conversation.
“Jacob, can you give me a moment? I don’t know what is going on,” I asked, frowning.
“The council called you here not because of the incident in the airport ...” Jacob answered.
Confused, I frowned as I waited for Jacob to reveal the entirety of his answer.
“Cut the suspense! Why do they call me?” I exclaimed in impatience.
