Chapter sixteenNovember 1947 Trieste, Italy The only sorrow anyone had at saying goodbye to Germany was the children’s grief in parting from their pet cat Milksha. Daniela sobbed for hours on the train as it rattled south, taking them back to their blessed Italy.
