The reliquary opened with a slight "click," and an intense tingling shook the tips of my fingers, then my hands, and then my arms, until it seized my entire body. It was such a strong surge that it forced me to let go of the necklace and fall backwards to the ground. I writhed, trying to remedy the sensation of searing heat convulsing me, then to try to appease what felt like a million ants entering through every pore of my skin. It was the most intense agony I had ever experienced, much more painful than any sports injury I had suffered before, although I didn't have many to compare to. I don't know how long I spent writhing on the ground, subjected to that torture, but if it was only two seconds, they were the longest of my life. Finally, as suddenly as it came, it ceased.
