Naveah p.o.v I lay on the pull out bed in Ruth’s room, staring at the ceiling. Everything said and done going round and round in my brain. My mum was a werewolf, as am I. My father has been drugging me and lying to me for 14 years, my best friend and her entire family are werewolf’s along with the majority of the town and school. And to top it all off my best friends brother is my mate, not only my mate but also my Alpha. I don’t know what to think, what to do, or even how to feel about it. 4:37am my brain finally gives in and allows me to fall asleep. Chris P.o.v 5am, border patrol duties are finally over. I head home and see my mother sitting out front of the pack house. “Hello my dear boy.” My mother speaks softly. “Everything ok on the borders?” She asks. “Perfect mother” I say kissing her cheek. “Why are you out here? It’s too cold for you out here.” I tell my mother draping my jacket over her shoulders. “Come on let’s get you inside.” I open the front door, the strong scent of pink peony & white musk smashes into my nostrils knocking me back. My eyes light up “she is here” I yelp excitedly and go to run up the stairs just as my mother grabs my arm. “Come son, I need to explain a few things to you.” She directs me to the kitchen and flicks the kettle on, explaining everything that has happened this evening. Chris: So her mother was killed? Mother: yes son. Chris: How did she not know she had a wolf? I don’t understand. Mother: It was mask by medication her father gave her. He told her they was for trauma induced BPD. Anger rages through me. Chris: SO HE DRUGGED HER? Mother: He thought he was protecting her. Chris: FROM WHAT? I stand from my chair heading to the stairs. “WHERE IS SHE?” I demand my mother to tell me. “Shh love your going to wake her, and with you in this state your going to frighten her.” My mother tries to calm me. “I need to mark her mom. I can’t have her struggling with this on her own.” “It’s not that simple love.” She tells me. “WHY NOT!” I shout. “Her mother was killed by her mate, the person meant to protect and care for her. You will need to earn her trust slowly, running in all guns blazing will make her run and you will lose her.” “Is she safe? Is she hurt?” I ask my mother, tears building in my eyes. “She is safe darling. Fast asleep in Ruth’s room. No need to panic.” She tells me cupping my cheek in her hand. “She doesn’t leave here mother. She stays here where I know she is safe.” I tell her as I sit back down on the kitchen stool. “Controlling much! Don’t you think that is her choice to make?” My sister says walking into the kitchen and flicking the kettle on. A loud growl escapes me, and my mother smacks her hands together breaking my deathly gaze at my sister. “She is right love. Demanding and controlling her is not going to help.” But she is my mate! I need to protect her!” I snap. My mother comforts me with a hug. “I know dear. And protect her you will just from a distance.” My mother has always been able to calm me with her tender hugs.
