CHAPTER NINE
LUCIAN’S POV
I had no idea what to feel exactly. Should I be angry that my best friend and my girlfriend teamed up behind my back and didn’t think it was important for me to know? Or should I be confused by the fact that Angel may just be alive? When Alec insisted on coffee right after Faith got picked up by Leon, I had certainly not anticipated it would be to break this type of news to me.
“Say something buddy,” Alec nudged me.
I sighed, finished up the coffee I was drinking before leaning over, hands clasped over the table before I finally met his gaze.
“What do you want me to say Alec? You didn’t think to tell me that Angel may be alive,” I was hurt. Alec was the last person I expected would keep something that vital away from me. It was about Angel for pitts’s sake.
“We both weren’t sure if she was actually alive. Besides, you already had too much going on,” he argued, leaning away from me with a slight shrug.
“Don’t give me that crap Alec. Nothing could ever be too much when it comes to her and you of all people should know that. Whether they were just suspicions or not, I deserved to know as much as you did. I cared about Angel in case you forgot that part,”
“Of course I didn’t forget that. Look, I’m sorry, okay?”
“Sorry doesn’t cut it,” Okay, maybe I was a little too mad about the entire issue but who would blame me? Angel was the first girl that got in my heart and if there was a chance that she was still alive, then I wanted to find her just as bad. Maybe then the guilty would top haunting me.
“I know and even still you can’t tell anyone, not even Chase about it. With Ronald already on the lose, we need less people knowing about it lest he got wind of our suspicions and chose to kill her before we could find her. I need you to promise me right now that you won’t tell a single soul about this,”
“Fine. I won’t tell nobody about it. I just don’t understand why Faith wouldn’t tell me about all this, you know. I mean, I thought we were at a point where we could trust each other with everything,” That was what bothered me the most. Did it mean she didn’t trust me yet? Maybe I was a douchebag to her when she first came to this town but I had changed. Couldn’t she see that?
“Are you being serious right now?” Alec chuckled as though he found my frustration entirely amusing.
“Yeah. I’m her boyfriend. She is supposed to trust me,”
“Right. So what was she supposed to do? Come over to you and be like hey, I think your ex-girlfriend may actually be alive? I thought you knew girls better than I did. Besides, you guys have only been going out for a couple of days,”
“Maybe you are right,” I glanced at my wrist watch, instantly groaning in frustration. How was it nine already? I had school tomorrow even though I could us all the distraction I could get right now. With my brothers’ anniversary coming this Friday, I was already beginning to feel drained. If one looked closer, they would notice just how the mood around town was slowly becoming suffocated by sadness. The packs would definitely be in mourning coming this Friday and knowing I had to stand strong as an Alpha, wasn’t helping at all.
“You are not going to confront her about it, are you?” Alec questioned as we walked out of the café.
“No. I’ll wait till she decides to tell me herself,” I shrugged but then a thought slid into my mind, making me stop in my tracks,” You know what? Why don’t you go ahead? I’ll just go over to Faith’s house, chill out a bit with her and-“ I was cut off by my phone ringing.
“Ian? This should be interesting,” I muttered when I recognized the name on the screen. He was the last person I expected would call me?
“Why would he be calling you?”
“We are about to find out,” I picked it up,” This should be good,”
“I need you to come get your girlfriend before she commit m*********r,”
“What?”
“Faith showed up at my house and went rogue, injuring two sentinels already. I’m not sure how long our front door is going to hold. Look, you are the only one who can stop her and so if you don’t want her to become exactly like her father, you better bring your f*****g ass over here,” I could here panic noises in the background.
“I’m coming,” I cut off the call, pushed the phone inside my pocket before turning to Alec,” Change of plans. I need my beta now,”
“I heard. Lets go,” he said, getting into his car while I slid into mine.
Just what the hell happened to Faith?
