Chapter Fifty-Six
SLOANE
"Have you eaten?" I casually asked, acting like the situation isn't affecting me when it does.
I am tempted to follow mom and Sophia to the party, but that would be inappropriate and rude to Josiah who clearly waited for me. Besides, that would be just too obvious.
"I haven't actually. I was waiting for you," Josiah answered, following me to the kitchen and pointing to the table. "You mom cooked something before they left an hour ago. I told her I'll just wait for you."
She did mention about the party and taking Sophia with her, but I guess it slipped from my mind, so I forgot to warn Josiah as well.
"Yeah, I kind of forgot about that party. Anyway, I'll just get changed and we'll eat together, okay?"
I didn't wait for his answer and went to my room to ch
