Chapter Thirty JOSIAH I couldn't do it. I couldn't leave Shannon to be with Sloane. Seeing her laying in the emergency room pale, unconscious and sick was heartbreaking. I couldn't leave her in that situation even if I tried to, so I had no choice but to send Sloane a message that I couldn't make it. I was honest when I said there was an emergency, I just didn't specify it. I watched them check her vitals, take some samples and connect her to a dextrose.
