Rafi sat in his car outside the restaurant, gathering his nerve. Baserri was a jewel in his father’s crown, regarded as one of the finest Spanish Basque restaurants in the world, and a frequent choice for their family dinners. Rafi had always loved it almost as much as his father did, but today, looking up at the red doors with their traditional thistle pattern in stained glass, it felt like infiltrating an enemy fort.
