ACCEPTING FATE

“You have to do it, Kabir…….. It is true that you have responsibilities as a son and you can’t back out…”(his mind said)

“But what about my life, my dreams, my goals…..”(His heart said)

“Sometimes we have to leave our most precious thing just for the sake of family…… and this is the time….. You have to make this sacrifice, Kabir” (his mind said).

Kabir opened his eyes and, taking a deep breath, he said……

Kabir: OK, I’ll do this……I’ll go to the office from tomorrow yet again….. Please inform him too….. Now it is fine.

K/mom: you are happy….. Are you kabir?

Kabir: now it is OK the way it is….(he said, blankly)

K/mom: OK now eat…. Wait, let me make you eat….

She put a morsel in his mouth. He didn’t say anything and finished his food by taking it from his mom’s hand…… after feeding him, mom left for her room…..

Kabir was sitting blankly with a sad face and was staring out of the window. Then he remembered her words……. Shrishti’s words……

“Suppose you have lots of problems…. You are stuck somewhere you don’t wanna be…. But if you are helpless to do anything, then just let everything be and smile……”

“Because even if you don't smile, the problem is not going anywhere….. But if you face those problems with a smile, then it’ll be easy to deal with them….”

Kabir: you were right, Shrishti…… now there is no other option in front of me….. Except one…… smiling……. (He smiled sadly) but now it’s enough of being sad….. Now I’m not gonna give permission to anyone to make me sadder……

He got up energetically and started packing all his things in bags…..

Here Shrishti was chuckling seeing the pictures she clicked on the trip…….

Monika: what is it shrii darling….. Looking very happy….. Show me also what you are seeing…..

Shrishti: when I said no…..ha…. come….. (She patted the space near her)

Monika: seems like this trip was really awesome……. (She said sitting beside her)

Shrishti: really……. See how beautiful these pictures are……. (She said, showing her the camera)

Monika was swiping the pictures but stuck at one picture….. It was Kabir’s picture…..

Monika: who is this boy….. Why are you having his photo? (she said, squinting her eyes)

Shrishti: oh madam over thinker….. There is nothing like you are thinking OK….. He is just a friend…. Poor boy met me on the train…. Actually, he was very sad, so I thought why not boost him up. Then we enjoyed the trip together as we were both alone…..

Monika: Is it…..

Shrishti: of course……..

Monika: well don’t you think you help strangers more than required madam shrishti…..

Shrishti: I actually like I enjoy helping others….. it gives me peace(she said dreamily, looking upward)

Monika: OK now…. Time to sleep. It is already very late…. You must be feeling tired…..

Shrishti hugged her and then slipped under her blanket…… Monika left after switching off the lights…….

Next morning

Kabir woke up on time and went to have breakfast with mom and dad….. he was eating silently. Then his dad started speaking……

K/dad: I’m glad that you are going to the office…… again…… I’m hoping you’ll not elope again……

K/mom: now please leave this na….. He is going at lease…..

Kabir: Yes…… I’m going….. See there….(he indicated towards the servants who were bringing his bags….)

K/mom: now what is all this…. Where are you going…? Tell me fast….

K/dad: what is this kabir….. Say something

Kabir: don’t worry please….. I’ll go to the office too…. I’m just shifting to the house near the office, that’s it…..

K/dad: and who took this decision…

Kabir: I…… you want me to handle your company….. No problem, I’ll do it….. But I want peace and I want to live alone….. as a grownup I can too…. There is nothing to worry about…..

K/dad: OK, do what you want…..

K/mom: how the hell do what you want….. You are going nowhere get that…..(she said fuming as her child was going away from her)

Kabir: Mamma, please no emotional blackmail, I understood your point so please try to understand my point too….. (he said standing up) OK then, I’m leaving….. Bye…. (he said, hugging his mom and left, not before giving orders to the workers to shift his luggage to another house where he is going to live alone…..)

Here Shrishti got up from her beauty sleep and ran towards her mom for a morning hug….. As her mom is her energy booster…….

S/mom: from where the sun rose today…..(she said dramatically) how are you up this early madam…..

Shrishti: just like that….. I thought why not give you a surprise…? Let me make tea…. Where are dad and Di (sister)?

S/mom: Elsewhere, they definitely will be sitting in the garden with their serious discussion on world economics…… as today is a holiday you know (she said sarcastically)

Soon after making tea, both Shrishti and her mom went out into the garden where Monika and dad were sitting together arguing on some general topic……

Shrishti: presenting hot tea shrishti special….. Now no more discussion on your world economics…… (She said teasing her sister and dad)

Monika: sure sure…..

Shrishti: umm…. Papa, I want to talk about something…..

K/dad: Yes, say

Shrishti: see…. I know what I’m doing is going really well, but recently I sent my portfolio to Mehra fashion ltd….. And that actually got approved…. So can I join this coming Monday…..

S/mom: what is the need to change the job in the first place shrii….. In fact, I’m saying leave your job and stay at home.

Shrishti: Mammmaaaaa…… please don’t tell say like that, every single person dreams of working in that huge company, and on the top of that I got the direct post of head designer….. Please mamma…. Papa Please…. Say yes…. We don’t know what there is in store for me. Please let me do what I want….. I'm requesting this please….. (She said with puppy eyes)

K/dad: ok fine…. Only for you…. Now Happy….

Shrishti: Very happy….. (She said to him, hugging him and showed her tongue to her mother playfully) You are the best papa……
