The Darling Daughter
M r. KabirRaichand and his daughter Aahana Raichand of street number 15, Race Course are the richest family in the whole Dehradun. Mr. Raichand has a tele-calling company and hundreds of employees work under him. They say he is a man of his words and he has a pretty good image in front of other people. Being a well-known person in Dehradun, so whenever a tall white guy, with deep brown eyes along with dark brown hair with a slightest touch of not so brown beard, In well fitted formals and a Longines watch in the left hand, with Ray-Banaviator style glasses crosses streets, people here assume him as Mr. Raichand.
Most peculiar thing about him is that even after being one of the richest man in the whole society Mr. Raichand is not considered as a good father for his daughter. When his wife died abruptly after 16 years of their marriage, he was devastated and for his little daughter who was barely 16 that time, he needed a nanny. Many women tried to help, he offered them good salary but his daughter was uncomfortable with every lady. She lived with every lady for about a month but she missed her mother very much and she could not get along any of them. Whenever they tried to do something like her mother, instead of liking those efforts she used to keep herself locked in her mother’s room.
After getting frustrated from his daughter’s behaviour, finally, Mr. Raichand hired a girl from his own company. That girl was around 21, and was very quiet. Her name was Shipra and was from a poor family. Kabir saw her dedication towards the work, management between her studies, work and home. He hired her for this job, although she was hesitant to work in the beginning for such a job because she did not feel like doing the nanny work. Kabir convinced her telling that she will be living at his home as his second daughter and just have to take care of Aahana as her younger sister, she finally agreed to live at his house to take care of her sister. From that day till last fall, when Aahana turned 16 and Shipra’s marriage was fixed. they lived together as sisters, Aahana too accepted Shipra’s company because she never did anything which related something to Aahana’s mother. Both of them started to bond really well just after one week of Shipra’s arrival.
Shipra supported Aahana in everything which Kabir couldn't. When Shipra had to move out of the state because of her marriage, Aahana was not really prepared. Aahana was sad again, she knew that this would happen someday but was not prepared to let go of her elder sister that soon, nevertheless Aahana was not a little kid anymore, she was raised without her mother when she needed her the most, so she did not expected anyone to be by her side every time. She started to live alone most of the time and when she was not alone she was with her friends.
After Shipra got married and moved to another state, Aahana and Shipra could not get in touch, Shipra got busy with her new life and Aahana was busy in her studies as she had to give boards exams for the very first time in her life. Apart from the board exams, she was excited for herself to be sweet 16 but she was paranoid on her father for not being with her on her sixteenth birthday, which was indeed a very special day for her. At first, she thought that her father, not being with her on the special day was bad, but who knew that Aahana being not in contact with him for the next ten days would change her life completely.
