Daisy couldn't believe Ethan could endure that every day without getting angry.
But two days later, the vacuum cleaner broke.
She fiddled with it for a while, only to hear Ethan's light-hearted comment behind her. "Did the vacuum cleaner go on strike? I've gotten so used to its noise that it feels strange without it."
Daisy turned sharply, her eyes shooting daggers at him.
She was sure he had something to do with it!
Ethan smiled slightly and went back to bed.
Daisy took the vacuum cleaner to get it repaired, but after a thorough inspection, the technician found nothing wrong with it. It simply wouldn't work.
"Is that bastard actually from Hogwarts? If so, he must be a Slytherin!" Daisy was livid. Not only had her plan backfired, but she also ended up losing a vacuum cleaner.
Frustrated beyond belief, Daisy had never met someone so difficult to break.
Leaving the repair shop, she noticed a pet store across the street. An idea struck her, and she smiled mischievously.
That evening, Daisy came home on time, much to Ethan's surprise, especially since she was carrying a cage.
Bouncing over to him, Daisy said playfully, "Look. A new member of our household."
As she spoke, she reached into the cage and pulled out a trembling guinea pig.
The smell hit Ethan immediately.
Before she could even see his reaction, Ethan had already leapt behind the sofa, putting a good twenty feet between them.
His usually calm blue eyes flashed with panic as he covered his nose. "Why did you bring a rat home?!"
Daisy hadn't expected such a strong reaction. She had hoped to annoy him with the idea of a messy pet, but his fear was a bonus!
Delighted, she laughed openly, not hiding her joy at his distress. Her eyes sparkled, making her already delicate features even more captivating.
Ethan stared, momentarily entranced by her beauty.
Daisy, thinking he was in shock, relished her small victory.
She approached him, holding the guinea pig out. "Isn't it cute? I just bought it today. Want to hold it?"
Ethan's skin crawled at the sight of the guinea pig.
"Geez!" He backed away further, pressing against the door as if ready to flee.
Daisy was taken aback. "What are you shouting about? You'll have to get along with it."
Ethan couldn't believe it. "You really want to keep it?"
"Of course! I passed the pet store today and fell in love with it. Say hello to Gizmo."
She now had to afford two freeloaders!
Daisy approached with Gizmo, and Ethan instinctively shielded his face. In the scuffle, Gizmo slipped from her hands.
Daisy screamed, relieved to see Gizmo land safely on the soft sofa.
Gizmo was startled and let out a hiss. It then shot off the sofa and hid under the cabinet, trembling with fear.
"What are you doing?" Daisy, equally shaken, scolded him. "You almost hurt Gizmo!"
Ethan glared at her, teeth clenched. "Can you not keep it?"
Daisy mimicked his glare, chin raised defiantly. "This is my house! I make the rules! I will keep it!"
"If you keep it, I'll leave!" Ethan threatened.
Daisy's eyes lit up. "Fine, go ahead!"
She added mockingly, "Oh, do you think Gizmo will be lonely? Maybe I should buy another one tomorrow, a mate for it."
Daisy watched Ethan, his eyebrows twitching with anger, and said even louder, "Then they can have babies, and those babies will have babies..."
Ethan, horrified at the thought of a house full of guinea pigs, lunged at her.
"Stop saying that!"
Daisy stepped back, tripping over the cage and grabbing Ethan's shirt for balance.
Ethan, pulled by her momentum, fell onto the sofa with her, their lips accidentally meeting.
Time seemed to freeze as Daisy's wide eyes took in his striking features and long eyelashes.
Ethan was stunned. Her lips were as soft and fragrant as she was, and her breath was so intoxicating.
His instincts took over, and he began to lean in for a deeper kiss.
The slight movement brought Daisy back to her senses. She pulled away, covering her mouth. "You... jerk!"
Ethan's expression darkened as he sat up.
"I'm sorry. I know you don't like me," he said quietly.
"You'd rather like a rat than me. Maybe no one in the world likes me. That's probably why I've been missing for so long, and no one has come looking for me."
He closed his eyes, his voice heavy with sorrow.
