HotPot

Mia and Cassy drove in Mia’s Porshe while Jake and Damon took Jake’s car. Cassy had reserved a hotpot restaurant. They were seated at the table with the hotpot boiling in front of them with beer bottles opened in front of them. “Have you ever had hotpot before Mia? It’s really delicious.” Damon was the first to speak up. “No this is my first time. Can’t wait to try it.” Mia replied eyeing the boiling pot. “It may be a bit spicy ..” Cassy warmed. “I actually like spicy foods.” Cassy dished out for her and gave her the bowl. “Hmmm … it’s good I love it.” Mia said as she gobbled the food down. She would stick her tongue blowing slightly every now and then when the spice overwhelmed her. “You were great Mia. I didn’t think you’d play soccer.” Damon said after watching her eat for a while. “My mom liked soccer, we used to play together when I was still a kid. It’s one of those things we would do together when she wasn’t out there saving the world.” Mia replied with a thoughtful look. Just then Mia’s phone rang in her bag. “Daddy ..” “Hey princess I heard you made the soccer team!” Jason called out as soon she picked up. “Oh yeah I thought I’d try out. I didn’t know I’d be picked.” Mia replied looking proud of herself. “Where are you? Why does it look ..??” “I’m out with Cassy, we’re celebrating with some hotpot!” Mia moved her phone camera to show Jason around the table. “When you’re back we should have hotpot together dad what do you think?” “Of course, of course. I need-“ someone moved behind Jason’s camera. “Jason Metcalfe who the hell was that? Where are you and what are you doing?” Mia’s face darkened instantly. “We’re at the hotel princess, it’s the staff gathering things up for the meeting. Amelia calm down! What are you thinking?” Jason asked looking embarrassed. “I hope you haven’t forgotten our agreement Jason. I swear if I found out you’re fooling around I’ll disown you immediately!” The line went quiet on the other side while Mia looked flustered. She got another call. “Uncle Carson what’s going on? And please don’t lie to me!” Mia called out her tone serious. “Calm down Amelia it’s not what you think. I’m here with Jason and the hotel staff is helping us set up our equipment for the meeting tomorrow morning. You know I’ll never deceive you. You trust me right?” Carson Rodriguez replied nervously. “I-I trust you. But if I found you’re both lying to me I’ll drag you both to hell myself and torture you for eternity!” Mia threatened making Carson chuckle lightly. “You really are your mother’s daughter. Don’t worry Mia uncle Carson would never betray you or my sister. You can rest assured okay?” After a couple of reassurances from Carson Mia finally calmed down. When she finally ended the call the others at the table were looking at her with strange expressions. “Mia you looked like the wicked step mom just now!” Cassy said while Mia laughed. “Oh its just a little misunderstanding between me and my dad. He knows I hate people who don’t honour their promises he’d better not betray me.” “Mia from what I’ve heard your mom has been dead for a while, are you going to keep Mr Metcalfe from dating for the rest of his life?” Cassy asked. “No of course not. I want him to find someone but he promised not to date until the mourning period he promised my mom is over. After the 4 year period he can do what ever the hell he wants I won’t interfere with his life.” Mia explained. Cassy, Jake and Damon: “…” They finished their celebration and the girls headed back to campus while Jake and Damon drove back home. Cassy was still curious about Mia and Jason’s relationship. “So Amelia, since you won't allow Mr Metcalfe to date does that mean you can? I mean that’s a little unfair isn’t it?” She inquired her ears twitching with gossip. “I’ll tell you a secret no one knows.” Mia said her tone getting serious. “When my mom passed away Jason devoted himself to taking care of me maybe because my mom’s death hit me more than we thought. Jason did everything possible to make me feel better but nothing worked. Apparently after he and my mom got married they’d made this promise that if one of them dies they wait a certain period before they would date again so, before she died he actually signed an agreement in front of her promising to wait a period of 4 years before he will start dating again.” “Wow that’s some devotion.” Cassy said. “It was actually his idea. He really loved my mom so he came up with this idea maybe because he thought he’d be the first one to die before my mom I don’t know. Anyways after her death I was really struggling and my grandmother suggested Jason get married again. She was convinced a step mom would help Jason take care of me but Jason refused. Now my grandparents are very scheming, if they want you to marry someone they can have it done without your knowledge. My dad, aware of this decided to transfer ¾ of his assets to my name. Even if he gets remarried that woman would only get a house and a car whereas I, Amelia Metcalfe hold all of Jason’s wealth while he actually holds less than a quarter!” Cassy sat there with her mouth wide open. “So you mean to tell me you’re the richest teenager in the world? Wow you sure have your dad right in the palm of your hand.” “I practically own Jason!” Mia said looking smug. “So you see there’s only a few months left till the agreement expires but I’m not worried about any stepmother taking control of Jason and kicking me out. Even that gigantic house is under my name. I just want my dad to honour the promise he made to both my mom and me. Its the least he could donto honour my mom's memory.” “Damn it Amelia you’ve got everything figured out. You’re set for life!” Cassy said. “If I were a guy I’d pursue you like crazy! Maybe even as a girl ..” “You’re crazy!” Mia laughed. “But seriously all of this was Jason’s idea. Whether he did it to feel less guilty about mom’s death or because he loves me so much I don’t know. All I know is it would be difficult for me to get married because he'd probably be worried about some guy marrying me for his riches.” “Your life is really complicated I’ll give you that. The lives of the rich and famous are always like soap operas.” Cassy said laughing. “You always talk about the rich and famous like you don’t belong in the circle??” Mia asked giving Cassy a strange look. “Yeah I used to think my family was rich before I met you! You’re filthy rich!” She replied making Mia roll her eyes.
