The First Day

Mia stepped out of her blindingly pink Porshe dressed in the latest Chanel dress, Jimmy Choo heels and carrying a LV bag. Her hair was packed in a neat bun and her delicate make up was impeccable making her look gentle. It was Mia's first day at Ashton University and it was obvious she came from a prestigious family. “Ooops .. sorry .. Are you okay?” A voice called out as Mia tried to steady herself after someone almost knocked her down. Her brows knitted together as she reached out to touch her delicate ankle which almost got twisted somehow. “Cassandra Milton!” an angry voice shouted behind them before Mia could react. She raised her eyes to see a guy glaring at the girl who just bumped into her. “Hehe.. brother ..” Cassandra said scratching the back of her head awkwardly. “Where the hell have you been? Have you any idea how ..” Amelia rolled her eyes and left the siblings arguing to go find her dorm. Her father was sending someone to deliver the rest of her things later on so in the meantime she had to find her dorm and meet her room mate. She wasn’t happy sharing a room with someone but Jason Metcalfe was forcing her to socialise and make friends. She went to the registry office and got her room number and key and made her way to the dorms. She sighed a relief when she saw the place was nice and tidy but it could do with a bit of a redecorating. She sat there alone when someone badged into the room carrying their luggage. “Oh its you! I’m Cassandra Milton your new roommate.” The girl from earlier greeted and extended a hand to Mia. “Amelia Metcalfe.” Mia replied gently shaking the other girls hand unwillingly. Cassy not noticing the girl’s unwillingness went on: “Sorry about earlier. I was running from my older, he’s such a nag-bag! Worse than my mom! I hope you didn’t get hurt?” Cassandra asked looking at her ankle. “I’m fine, just watch where you’re going next time!” Mai said her tone laced with irritation. “Wait, did you say Metcalfe? THAT Metcalfe?” Cassy exclaimed her eyes widening. “Don’t give me that look.” Mia said rolling her eyes. Her father, Jason Metcalfe is a well known business tycoon. His legacy ventured different types of industries. From fashion, film, music, hotels even hospitals. But his popularity wasn’t solely from his achievements he was loved world wide because of his looks! Women of all ages admired the man’s striking looks and chased him relentlessly. Despite her father’s fame Mia chose to live her life in the shadows. After the death of her mother Claire Metcalfe, Mia had withdrawn from the world. People knew Jason had a daughter but after his wife’s death the girl seemed to have disappeared from the world without a trace. A few who knew her saw a change in her. Mia who was once a sweet charming little girl became a selfish stuck up spoilt princess who looked down on others. Cassy couldn’t believe she was sharing a room with Jason Metcalfe’s daughter! Mia was known to be a spoilt stuck-up person. She looked down upon everyone in fact she didn’t keep friends. Cassy wondered how true this was … A commotion outside brought her back to reality. There was a knock on the door and she went to open. “Miss Metcalfe ..” the man started before Cassy cut him off calling out to Mia: “Amelia some guy is out here looking for you!” then she turn around and walked inside leaving the door open. Mia appeared at the door. “Alex hey .. you brought the stuff?” Before Mia could finish a couple of guys walked in carrying boxes and before long the whole place was filled with boxes of appliances and other things. When the men were done Mia heard a low slow clap and turned around to see Cassy clapping and shaking her head. “As expected of Metcalfe’s daughter! Do you really need all this stuff? Can you even cook?” Cassy asked looking at slow cooker box. “My dad bought all this stuff.” Mia snapped at her. “Besides you never know. Maybe I do cook! And keep your hands off my things!” “Well your things are taking up all the space. This is a shared dorm in case you forgot. Why didn’t you ask daddy to get you your own room instead?” Cassy asked in a mocking tone seeing Mia showing her spoilt rich girl side. “I’ll pack the stuff away. To think daddy thinks it would be good for me to share a room so I can make friends.” Mia said rolling her eyes and her tone dripping with sarcasm. “What a stupid idea.” Cassy laughed softly. “All this better be gone by the time I came back.” Cassy said kicking a box as she stormed out and slamming the door behind her. “You’ll break my things you slug!” Mia shouted as she threw a little tantrum all alone. She decided to make a call. “Daddy ..” She was sobbing exaggeratedly. “What is it princess? Did someone bully you already?” Jason asked raising a hand to pause the meeting making the boardroom eerie quiet in a second. “My room mate hates me! She says my things are taking up too much space. How am I supposed to unpack everything alone? She didn’t offer to help. She just yelled at me and stormed out.” She was wailing louder as she spoke and Jason felt a headache coming on. “Okay princess I’ll send someone to help you unpack right away. You just relax and don’t worry about that room mate. Daddy will take care of everything okay?” Jason said in a gentle tone as if he was coaxing a 5 year old. He quickly sent a message to his assistant then resumed the meeting. Mia stopped sobbing rummaging through the mountains of boxes looking for her cosmetics. When she found them she went to her room to sort them out only to be interrupted by a knock on the door. She was delighted to see Alex and two girls ready to help her unpack. “You can take a break Miss Metcalfe, we’ll take care of this.” He said reassuringly. “You can go out and meet new friends.”
