Jason came back after taking care of Mia’s discharge papers finding her playing with her phone. She kept checking the door anxiously .. “Ready to head home princess?” When Jason asked her whole face lit up immediately. “I was born ready!” She got up and went to change in the bathroom. Mia felt she’ll be more comfortable and safe home than here in hospital room. The drive towards the Metcalfe residence as harmonious except for Jason who kept asking her if she was okay somehow not convince Mia was okay. “If you ask me that one more time …” Mia said through gritted teeth making Jason chuckle a bit. “You went through a lot last night I’m just worried about you. Wait till I found out who did this, they’ll regret ever crossing me!” Jason’s tone turned serious and his grip on the starring wheel tightened making his knuckles whiter. “Don’t do anything dumb dad, let the police do their job. You don’t want to end up in jail do you?” Mia asked knowing very well Jason had ways of staying out of jail … “Fine, let’s get you home. You’re saying with me till I figure out what’s going on.” He took a deep breath. “Its been difficult trying to keep the media from finding out. Last thing I want is your private life plastered all over the web ..." “Alex will make you something to eat after you freshen up Mia. I’ll be in the study I have a few phone calls to make.” Jason said kissing her forehead before he disappeared into his study tightly closing the door. Mia went to her room and suddenly she felt like she was being watched, followed even. Wait? This is Jason Metcalfe’s house! One of the safest places and he’s in his office nothing will happen to her. The house has top notch security systems and bodyguards what os she worried about .. Mia walked towards her room and kept telling herself she’s safe. The shower didn’t take that long and she was out and getting done took less than normal. She wanted to go find Jason. She didn’t feel safe alone. “Done so soon princess?” his question made her jump. “Are you okay? You’re jumpy ..” “Oh .. uhhh .. I ..” Mia stammered making Jason’s brows knit together. The incident has affected Amelia. “I didn’t expect to see you here dad that’s all.” She laughed softly. “Amelia you don’t have to pretend with me, you know that right? Maybe you should see-“ “No please daddy. No more shrinks I can’t live my life visiting those places. Not again please, I’ll be okay. Home is safe right?” She asked as he lead her to the dining room. “Of course. I’ve upgraded security around the house and I’ll be sleeping in the guest room next to your room tonight.” Jason replied his voice soft and gentle. “Thank you daddy.” Mia buried her face in his chest while he gently patted her head looking thoughtful. During dinner Jason’s phone rang and he went to take the call by the balcony. He was gone for gone for a while and Mia kept glancing at him through the glass sliding door. It seemed to be an important call. “Princess I need to step out for a bit, do you want me to call your friends to come keep you company while I’m gone?” Jason asked out of concern especially after seeing her jumpy earlier. “I’m fine dad you can go. The house is safe what can happen to me? Besides I'll call Alex if I feel anxious okay?” Mia sounded fine and after Jason asked a couple of times he finally left. Mia was left alone and for some reason she actually did start to feel anxious. Cassy and Rosa were already on the way but being alone she felt like she was being watched. ‘This house is the safest nothing will happen. There’s bodyguards every where I’m safe!’ she kept repeating to herself then she curled herself on the sofa trying to watch tv. She suddenly picked up her phone and made a call. “Amelia?” the noise in the background was a bit loud. “Uhm .. hi. Did I disturb you?” she asked already hating herself for calling him. “No I was just doing .. nothing. Do you need something?” Jake asked surprised by the call. He stepped outside away from the noise. “Uhmm no not really .. I .. just ..” Good grief why did I call him?? Now I don't even know what to say .. “Are you okay?” He asked seeing she went quiet. “Dad just left and I .. uhmm ..” “You need me to come keep you company?” He asked his voice warmer than she’d ever heard. “Cassy and Rosa are on the way. I thought I’d be okay but as soon as dad left .. I just ..” “It’s okay stay on the line till they get there. It won’t be easy being alone for a couple of days especially at night. It’s a good thing your friends are coming.” Jake said and Mia was surprised he was actually chatting with her. “Jake..” a sweet female voice interrupted. “I’m busy go back inside!” Mia heard his muffled voice, it seems he has tried covering the phone so she couldn’t hear. “I hope I didn’t disturb you and your girlfriend.” Mia said quickly then added. “I’ll be fine till Cassy gets here.” “That’s not my girlfriend don’t worry you’re not disturbing anything. I needed an excuse to step out anyways. In fact I should be thanking you.” Jake chuckled and Mia wondered how handsome he must have looked laughing. “You hardly ever smile .. it’s the first time I heard you laugh.” She blurted out before she could stop herself. “Hey I laugh okay just only when it’s fitting. People will think I’m insane if I just laugh out of the blue.” This time Mia chuckled. “Well I guess you have a point. Thank you for keeping me company over the phone. I didn’t know you can chat this much.” Mia said honestly. “I guess there’s a lot Miss Metcalfe doesn’t know about me then ..” the door bell rang cutting off their conversation. Mia was disappointed she had to go and end the chat with him. “That should be my sister right? Take care Amelia.” “Thank you Jake. For everything.” The phone went dead and she sighed.
