Chapter Fifteen First Transformation After I killed my father we buried his body in the pack grave yard, and told my mother. I knew she knew though, they were mates, she would have felt the connection break, and the pain of his death. We lied a said a rouge attacked him, I didn't have the heart to tell her I did it. Tonight is the full moon, and is also the first transformation for all the 14 year old pack members. Currently we are all sitting around a fire while the kids wait nervously for the moon to peak from behind the clouds. I remember my first transformation. My father made me stay home that night, and change alone with no guidance from the pack or even my family. I won't let that happen to these kids. They are scared enough. The first transformation is the worst. The pain is unbearable and even causes death for the kids aren't physically able to handle it. But there has only been one case of it in our pack. I was eleven. A girl names Rose had been sick for months and ten her first change came and she died mid-change. Her parents screams were worse than their daughters. I would never wish that to happen to a child or the parents. That night the pack went silent as we watched the others change, but we knew some were fighting the change because of what they just witnessed. But fighting the change can kill you just as easily as being weak and sick. We had to assure them they would be okay. Finally they all made it through the change. Hopefully this year everything goes smoothly. After they change us adults will change and run with the newly changed. Then a loud crack and scream snaps me from I thought and I look over to see a boy, I think his name is Ryder, begin to change. I look up, and see the moon is out. Which means soon they will all change. Theirs about a total of thirteen kids changing tonight. One by one, the kids begin changing. Their horrifying screams pierce the air and their parents look by helplessly, knowing theirs nothing they can do but watch and wait. Finally. After about 45 minuets of waiting, everyone has changed. The 'pups' stand wobbly on their feet and sniff the air, discovering their newly heightened senses. Us adults change and we split up among the group of pups. The mothers stand next to their child, and the higher ranks go in the front and back of the group. Kyle and I go in the front. Kyle howls signaling that it's time to go, and we all run up the hill. Every year we do a annual run, allowing the newly changed to get used to their wolf form. Coming over the top of the hill, I smell something that's not normal. Rouges. "Beth do you smell that?" Kyle asks I look over to him and see a worried glint in his eyes. I just nod my head and begin to worry, hoping it was just a rouge passing through. We keep running and that's when I catch a blur of a wolf, that's not in the pack. One of the mother wolf's howl out a warning, and some of the pups begin slowing down. Kyle and I skid to a stop and turn around. "Everyone. Go back to the pack house. We will take care of this" Kyle says and the rest of the pack turns around running back to the pack house. We begin running again until we find a wolf standing by a rock. Their brown fur is matted and filthy. They are extremely skinny, even for a wolf. "Who are you?" Kyle asks The wolf whimpers and shifts back to a human. It ends up being a short, petite girl with gross, messy hair, and green eyes that are dark and sunken in with exhaustion. "Help. Me" She gasps out before falling to the ground.
