Ashley was awakened by a noise just after dawn. She sat up from her bed and rubbed her eyes, trying to discern movement outside her window. After a restless night, her nerves were tense. She quickly got dressed and decided to go to town to see if she might be able to find a clue to her mother's disappearance.
Stepping outside, the coolness of the morning made her shiver. She took a deep breath and tried to calm her inner anxiety. The town center was not unlike what she remembered. The town was still quiet, but there was a touch of eeriness in that quiet.
She first went to the restaurant her mother frequented. The door to the restaurant was still open, so she decided to wait at the door. Martha, the owner of the restaurant, walked out and saw Ashley with a surprised look on her face.
“Ashley? Is it really you?" Martha asked in surprise.
“Yes, Martha. I came back to find my mom. Do you know anything about her disappearance?” Ashley asked urgently.
Martha's expression turned serious as she whispered, “Well, yes. All of us were worried about her. She's a good doctor and always helps everyone. You know ...... there's something strange about her research lately.”
“Strange? What do you mean?” Ashley's curiosity was piqued.
“She's been studying some old books about werewolves and curses and stuff. I don't really know, I've just heard about some of it.” Martha said, shaking her head.
Ashley was about to ask something else when the door to the restaurant opened and a tall, well-built man walked in. Ashley looked up and saw a strange, handsome face. Those deep eyes seemed to look right through her.
“This is Jack Black,” Martha whispered, ”He is the heir to the Black family.”
Jack walked up to the counter and ordered a cup of coffee in a low voice. Ashley couldn't take her eyes off him; there seemed to be an irresistible attraction to him. Jack noticed her as well, his eyes meeting hers briefly before he smiled politely.
Ashley felt her cheeks burn and scrambled to lower her head, pretending to look at her phone. Questions filled her mind: who was this Jack Black? Did his family have anything to do with his mother's research?
When the coffee was served, Jack took his cup and walked toward a corner seat and sat down. He seemed somewhat interested in Ashley, but didn't initiate conversation. Ashley felt a twinge of loss, but she knew that now was not the time to dwell on that emotion; she had more important things to take care of.
She decided to ask Martha more about her mother, but before she could say anything, Jack suddenly stood up and walked towards her.
“Hello, Ashley.” His voice was low and magnetic, “I heard you came back for your mother.”
Ashley froze for a moment, wondering how he knew her name, but nodded in response, “Yes. Her disappearance has me worried, and I'm looking for any possible leads.”
Jack seemed to hesitate briefly, then said, “Perhaps I can help you. I know something about your mother's research. The moon will be full tonight and I can take you to a place where you'll find out some of the things you want to know.”
Ashley's heartbeat quickened. This mysterious man seemed to know something, but his words were unsettling. She hesitated, but agreed. Her mother's disappearance left her with no choice, and she had to jump on every possible lead.
Throughout the day, Ashley poked around the town asking for other information, but with little to no luck. The townspeople seemed a little wary of her, as if her arrival had awakened some kind of disturbing memory. As night fell, she returned home and prepared for the upcoming meeting.
As night completely enveloped the town, Ashley heard a knock on the door. She opened the door to see Jake standing outside. His expression was still cold, but his eyes revealed a hint of concern.
“Ready?” He asked.
Ashley nodded and followed Jack towards the forest. Moonlight poured through the treetops, casting a mysterious glow over the entire forest. They walked for a long time until they came to an open meadow.
“This is where your mother used to go,” Jack said. She conducted her research there, looking for a way to lift the curse.
Ashley looked around and felt a chill run down her spine. She didn't know what was going to happen next, but she knew there was no turning back.
Jack turned around and took a deep breath as if he had made up his mind somehow. He looked at Ashley and said,“You need to know that there is a huge secret hidden here. Your mother's research was more than just an academic interest; she was trying to protect you.
Ashley's heart clenched as she felt a strong wave of unease. Just then, the moon emerged from the clouds, shedding a silvery-white light. Jack's eyes became deeper and his body seemed to tremble slightly.
“You should know my true identity,” Jack's voice was low and firm," I am the heir to the Blake family and a werewolf.
Ashley took a step back in shock, unable to believe her ears. A million questions and fears flashed through her mind.
“But don't be afraid,” Jack continued," I won't hurt you. I am working with your mother to find a way to lift this curse. Tonight, I will show you the truth, but you must be prepared.
Ashley took a deep breath and tried to calm herself. She nodded, signaling Jack to continue.
Just then, Jack's body began to change. His bones twisted and distorted in the moonlight and thick gray fur grew on his skin. His face gradually transformed into that of a wolf, and his eyes glittered with a strange light.
When the transformation was complete, Jack stood in front of Ashley, having fully transformed into a strong werewolf. Despite his fearsome appearance, he still maintained his human sanity and self-control.
Ashley held her breath as she tried to digest the sight before her. She knew she had stepped into a whole new world, one filled with danger and mystery.
“Now you understand,” Jack said in a low voice, "werewolves are not a legend, but a reality. Your mother conducted research here to find a way to lift the curse and protect you and others.
Ashley felt a chill run down her spine, but she knew she couldn't back down. She was determined to continue her search for the truth and help Jack and the others lift this ancient curse.
They stood in the moonlight for a long time, and Ashley felt a deep connection develop between herself and Jack. The future they face together is full of unknowns and challenges, but she knows that only by facing it with courage will she be able to uncover the truth that lies hidden in the darkness.
