Marcus worked harder than ever to get his farms, fields and cattle in order. He was even more determined to make it a success now that there was a child on the way, a son he could leave a thriving estate to, not the ramshackle wreck his father had left him. After sending word of the impending infant to O’Flagnery, the raids on his land had come to a halt, and Marcus was now able to predict to a better degree what his growth for the year would be. Every day he rode over his lands seeing the improvements he was able to make, noting the ones he'd have to wait for. All in all, it wasn't going to be as bad as he'd thought. Yes, the next few years would hardly put any coin into his coffers, but as long as his people had food in their bellies, clothes on their backs and roofs over their heads
