Bridgett awoke as Christine brought in her breakfast tray. Looking around the room, she saw only Marcus’s cravat, half hidden by the rug, as the only sign he had been there the night before. Standing slowly, feeling very tender in her most intimate of places, Bridgett bent to retrieve the small piece of white fabric. Holding to her nose, she inhaled the smell of him, the smell of leather, sweat and the sweet tobacco he smoked. He had finally taken her as a wife, maybe even now there was a child forming in her belly. A child of love, for she did love him and she was sure he would love her one day too.
