Chapter Four:Flesh and Fangs

828 Words
Elara stared out the window, watching the moon rise above the treetops like a silent witness. Her heart was still racing from the visions — sharp flashes of blood, fur, claws, and something deep and wild clawing inside her. Something ancient. Something… hungry. The word “werewolf” echoed again and again in her skull, like a joke that wasn’t funny anymore. She was not a werewolf. She couldn’t be. And yet her body said otherwise. Her skin was burning under her clothes, her pulse throbbed in her throat, and her senses were… sharper. The soft creak of the leather seat beneath Zayne, the rhythmic sound of his breathing, even the heartbeat in his chest — she could feel it all. “You’re quiet,” Zayne said, pulling the car back onto the road. Elara’s voice was hoarse when she finally spoke. “Do you turn into a wolf every full moon?” Zayne’s lip curved faintly. “Not unless I want to. That’s just Hollywood bullshit.” “Do you… kill people?” “Only the ones who deserve it.” Her stomach flipped, and not from fear. From curiosity. She turned to look at him. “And me? What happens to me now?” Zayne didn’t answer immediately. He kept his eyes on the road, but the muscles in his jaw tightened. “Elara, your body’s waking up. That means soon… the wolf inside you will surface. With or without your consent.” “I never asked for this.” “None of us did.” She fell into silence again, lips parting slightly, her thoughts swirling too fast to catch. Finally, he pulled into a long, winding driveway lined with black trees and golden lights. The house at the end looked more like a modern fortress than a home — all steel, stone, and sharp edges. Cold. Expensive. Isolated. Like him. Elara followed Zayne into the house, her heels tapping softly on the marble floors. Inside, everything was silent but alive — the kind of place that had seen things, heard secrets whispered against walls while bodies trembled and begged for mercy. “Guest room?” she asked quietly. He stopped walking and turned. “No.” She blinked. “No?” “You’ll stay in my room. Until the change passes.” “Because you don’t trust me?” “No,” he said, walking toward her, “because I don’t trust your wolf.” A flicker of heat rippled through her stomach. There it was again — that tension between them. Not fear. Not anger. Need. “Strip,” Zayne said, voice like a dark wind curling around her spine. She stiffened. “Excuse me?” “You’re burning,” he said. “Your skin. You feel it, don’t you? Like your blood’s on fire. The first phase always hits this way — fever, hunger, lust.” Elara swallowed hard. He was right. Her skin was flushed, her thighs damp, her n*****s hard and aching beneath the silk of her dress. “What are you going to do?” she whispered. Zayne’s eyes gleamed. “What your body needs.” He didn’t wait. His hands were on her — rough, commanding, tugging the dress over her head. It pooled on the floor like sin itself. He growled low in his throat at the sight of her bare skin, and his hands slid around her waist, pulling her against his bare chest. “You’re not mine yet,” he murmured against her ear. “But you will be.” She didn’t fight him. She didn’t speak. She moaned. Her body moved on instinct, craving the heat of him — the safety and the danger in one violent embrace. His lips found her neck, his tongue laving the place where her skin pulsed, and she arched into him. The world spun. Zayne lifted her like she weighed nothing and carried her into his bedroom — a massive space with black silk sheets, heavy curtains, and the scent of cedar, musk, and something darker. He dropped her on the bed. She barely had time to gasp before he was between her thighs, mouth moving like he was starving — like he needed her to breathe. And maybe he did. Because when Elara came undone beneath him — fingers twisted in his hair, body arching like a bow — her eyes flashed gold. She didn’t notice. But Zayne did. He pulled back, panting, staring down at her glowing skin, the way her body radiated heat now. Her chest rose and fell quickly, her lips red and parted, her body shining with sweat and need. “You’re close,” he said. “Closer than I thought.” “To what?” she asked, dazed. He leaned down, lips brushing hers. “To becoming who you really are.” Elara didn’t know what that meant. All she knew was that something inside her had shifted. Something wild. Something sinful.
