Opening the front door, I came face to face with Ali. "Back so soon, and all alone," she called out casually, "where's Morgan?"
I threw my hands up in the air. "I don't know what's going on with Morgan and Mason, but Mason showed up at the park and the two of them started throwing punches. Men can be so dumb. Good thing they are brothers or one of them might live to tell about it. " I laughed at the nonsense.
"Hold up!" She put her hand up, "Mason showed up at the park?" She looked suspicious at me, "and they started fighting."
I shook my head, "Look, I don't know what their problem is. Whatever happened out there this morning, they continued it at the park. Mason ran off, and Morgan promised to meet me tonight for dinner. So if you'll excuse me." I turned heading for the stairs.
"Hold on, I'm not finished with you yet," Ally reached out, trying to stop me. "What were they fighting over?"
"I don't know and really I don't care."
"How can you not know or care. He's the future alpha and your mate, Lex. Just tell me what you heard."
Pushing her hand away, I continued towards the stairs, "I don't answer to you, Ali, and I don't want to talk to you about it with you." I shot back.
"Why not," she huffed clearly offended.
"It's personal. A matter of trust between mates. I can't be running to my sister when we have a fight."
"But he runs to Mason, and he asks me questions about you when he's confused.
"You'ld do better off to stay out of conversation you know nothing about, pretending to know more then you do," I snapped.
"I know more than you think," she yelled but her eyes gave her away she was not angry. she was enjoying this.
" Well next time tell him to ask his mate instead if he wants to know something about me," I yelled back losing my patience.
She looked offended. "I'm not sure what I did."
Pinching the bridge of my nose, I sighed, "You never know what you do. You just go ahead and do it like the consequences don't matter."
Allie walked towards me, rolling her eyes, "Look, just because you're... how should I say this kindly, sexually frustrated, don't take it out on me. I didn't do anything to you."
"Whatever Ally," I said pushing past her, "I only have an hour to get ready, and I'm not going to waste it sitting down here arguing with you."
She yelled out to me, "Good to know." I heard her slam the front door as she left the house. Her car peeling out of the driveway was the last sound I heard before quiet fell over the house.
Relieved to have the house to myself, I knew she would not be back tonight. She was scheduled to work the late shift. As I got to my room, I heard my phone ding. Reaching into my bag and pulling it out, I noticed I had one text message. A smile filled my face as I went to unlock the screen. It is probably from Morgan.
However, when I unlocked my phone, I noticed it was from a blocked number. Clicking on the message, it read: Think you have the perfect mate.
I looked at my phone, confused, and put my phone down on the dresser as I went to get in the shower. Must be a wrong number. forgetting about it I headed towards the bathroom.
As I stepped out of the shower, I heard my phone notification ding again. Wrapping a towel around myself, I walked out to the bedroom, turned my phone over cautiously. Once again, I saw the number was blocked. Clicking on the notification, a second message appeared: Want to know what your mates has been up to? I clencthed the phone in my hand. Who is this I typed quickly pressing send only for message ro ping back telling me it could not be delivered.
I sat on the chair in front of my vanity contemplating who it was that could be sending me these. Maybe it was a wrong number, but if that was the case I should have been able to text back and clear the confussion.
I thought back to what happened at the park with Mason and Morgan something weird was definitely going on with the two of them. I clearly heard my Mason say or asked Morgan if he was going to tell me. Living apart for almost two years had not made our relationship stronger. If anything I thought our bond felt weaker all the time. I was sure that we both had our secrets. Yet secrets had a way of coming out at the worst time.
Morgan's secrets, why am I even thinking about this. Too many thoughts were going through my mind. My thoughts were all over the place as I thought about all the different ways the Morgan could betray me and all the different ways that I didn't believe that this message actually had anything to do with Morgan. In the end, I resolved to give Morgan the benefit of the doubt and give him a chance to talk to me and tell me like he had promised as to what was going on.
I heard a car pull into the driveway and I was sure it was Morgan. A few seconds later, I heard Morgan open the door and call up hey Lexi, Are you ready?"
"I'll be down in a minute," I said knowing full well It would take me way longer since I wasn't even dressed yet. The only thing that saved me was I knew exactlty what I would wear. I had been planning that for months, and could not wait to see his face.
First I grabbed langerie out of the drawer. I knew red was his fovite color so I had bought this piece specificially for him. The red overlay of lace over black looked amazing on my tanned skin. I giggled to my self. I was sure he would like it. I slipped into a red wrap around dress that fell to the middle of my thigh and paired it with high black stilettos so that I would be closer to his height tonight.
Then I grabbed my phone off the dresser but it beeped a third time I looked at the message which simply said Download file. I shook my head ignoring it throwing it instead into my bag.
Then I shut my door and walked carefully down the stairs. Morgan was sitting in the living room with his back towards me when I came in I walked forward and reached over the chair putting my hand on his shoulder. He way partly distracted looking at his phone. "Are you ready to go," I asked softly into his ear.
He chuckled, stuffing his phone in his pocket before standing up. Facing me his eyes raking over my body which I must say I took pleasure in as he quickly advanced on me pulling me into himself and kissing me
I laughed, "If you keep doing that we're never going to dinner."
He eyes looked amused, "As much as I would like that, I don't want to be halfway there and hear your stomach grumbling. So I will take you to dinner as planned and then we will come back and see what surprises are awaiting me underneath this dress." He added before kissing me a roughly a second time.
"Morgan," I moaned into his mouth thoroughly ready to give up on dinner. My hand sliding down his body towards his zipper.
"No," Morgan groaned loudly as he grabbed my hands and shook his head, "It's my time to deny you let's go Missy."
Relunctantly I followed him arm in arm out of the house and into his car.
