When Liz showed up the next day, Sam was still upset from her fight with Alex. He had gotten under her skin for sure, and she didn't know what to do with it. For some reason, it was bothering her more than their typical fights. She had never let one argument with him get under her skin this way before.
Liz had pressed her for what was bothering her the whole time, but Sam didn't tell her. Liz knew that something had happened between Alex and Sam before, but not what, and Sam wasn't about to tell anyone about one of the most humiliating moments of her life.
