ZESA RUSSO The beeping of the heart monitor coming from Kailea’s room filled my ears while we saw her. Louryn had lost a little weight out of worry for her daughter. I understood where she was coming from. No mother would want to see their child in such a condition. The doctor in charge of Kailea came into the room with two nurses behind her. “Miss Russo,” she brought her hand for a handshake. I shook it, mirroring her smile. “It’s good you’re here. I was just about to speak to Miss Louryn since she seems to be anxious about her daughter.” Louryn interlocked her fingers as panic sent on her face. “Doc, is my baby okay?” “Kailea is doing well. She should be a lot better after surgery. You don’t have to worry too much. We’re going to do everything we can for her.” “Please do so.” Louryn
